A woman and child are found locked in a basement room, barely alive. No-one knows who they are - the woman can't speak, and there are no missing persons reports that match their profile. The elderly man who owns the house claims he has never seen them before. The inhabitants of the quiet Oxford street are in shock - how could this happen right under their noses? But DI Adam Fawley knows that nothing is impossible. And that no-one is as innocent as they seem....

Such a rollercoaster ride
This book has been one of the best books I have read for ages. An avid detective/thriller reader I get through so many. Only a few in years do you come across such a great read. This book has everything and is also just the right amount. Some can overdo things , go on or some finish and you say where is the ending. Not this you have a puzzle with twists and turns as you go This is not a straight forward detective who done it and why. You have storie within story and one minute you think it’s part solved it’s just ripped out beneath you and it follows another path. Also as I said deep character stories even in within each side detective and main event. Then twists at the end yet again. This book had me wanting never to put it down and when I wasn’t reading I wish I was. I’m definitely going to hunt out and read everything this author has done. I’m very picky with narration voices too and this was so well chosen and a match made in heaven not just thrown together. Thank you for such a great read I’m sad it had to end.

What a twist at the end!!!
Story was very engaging, kept me guessing as to who did it.
My only dislike was the constant Twitter references and if I had been reading this book I would have skipped these pages.

excellent
This book kept me returning to listen with great eagerness. Being from the area that the book is set I found it just that much more interesting as I could picture the setting with ease. The book has an interesting and very engaging plot that builds with consistency throughout. Some very good twists within the plot. However I was a bit shocked with the ending. But all in all a most enjoyable listen. The narrators were very easy to listen too however whilst listening I could only picture Endeavour Morse as the narrator sounded so much like him. Maybe it was that plus the Oxford connection that I enjoyed so much?

Complicated story with weak narration
I found this book really difficult to listen to. The narrators kept changing the voice volume so i had to adjust my headphones accordingly. It’s so tedious listening to verbatum Twitter feeds where the date, time, Twitterhandles (about 5 each time) and message was spelled out. The story was too complicated and fussy, the characters so thin. Sorry but this is a no for me.
