A road trip book with a difference. Stars of Outlander - Sam Heughan & Graham McTavish - explore Scotland, a land of raw beauty, poetry, feuding, music, history, and warfare.

Narrated by Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish, with a foreword written and read by Diana Gabaldon.

From their faithful camper van to boats, kayaks, bicycles, and motorbikes, join stars of Outlander Sam and Graham on a road trip with a difference, as two Scotsmen explore a land of raw beauty, poetry, feuding, music, history, and warfare.

Unlikely friends Sam and Graham begin their journey in the heart of Scotland at Glencoe and travel from there all the way to Inverness and Culloden battlefield, where along the way they experience adventure and a cast of highland characters. In this story of friendship, finding themselves, and whisky, they discover the complexity, rich history and culture of their native country.

I really enjoyed this and I hate to admit, wasn’t expecting to. Love outlander, I live a stones throw away from castle leoch itself so I’m pretty invested in them but I never know with these types of books.

You won’t be disappointed at all, they have a great connection and their teasing each other is funny. Kept me entertained whilst I worked. Some interesting stories and some great references and insights into outlander which makes me want to rewatch and have a look to see if I can spot what they were talking about.

I particularly loved that amongst their teasing, they were serious when needed.

Haven’t seen the show yet as I can’t seem to get it yet but looking forward to it.

Disclaimer, I am an Outlander fan which is one reason why I wanted to hear this story. I'm also a Wallace and a Dunbar descendant who has never lived in Scotland but feels called to it as a home from home. Glasgow holds a strong place in my heart, and having run through the Highlands I can picture a lot of the tales from within my own memory. The stories that Graham & Sam regale had me pining for a history that could have been, feeling bewitched by the rich culture that prevails, and snorting at their calamities. Poetic and punny, this is a real treat. Llongyfarchiadau!

Headstrong, heartfelt, hilarious with history
