Nice idea but the main character isn't likeable

It's all just a little too easy for the main character. Too willing to exploit everyone and has rather too easy a time of it. There simply isn't any adversity he doesn't solve immediately while profiting from it.

The main problem in the way the story is told is that no matter what problem is set up to be overcome it's resolved in the very next chapter. No issues are left brewing for later drama, it all gets wrapped up tidily in a couple of paragraphs ready for the next problem to come along.

Too simple!

It is very simple and MC lacks depth, so do the other characters as well. It's basicaly like a POV of anyone playing builder game like Forge of Empire.

No world building

I tried to get through it but there is nothing except him just going to a place telling someone to do some thing or someone telling him to do some thing and him figuring out the problem. There’s no world building outside of things that we need to know to understand the story. There’s no character development and there’s not really a hook.

Really enjoyed the audiobook, but map needed.

I really enjoyed the narrator and his voice fits perfectly with the character. I liked the pacing, but I did find it confusing with the different mentions of cities. I wish I was able to get a map with the purchase of this audiobook to download elsewhere.

Great Book!

It is fast passed and filled with human interactions. Not porn or melodrama. I can not wait for the next book.

Interesting plot device. Low key, no fighting

This is not like all the other dropped in a RPG world by a higher power. No battles, no broken power or unlimited skill access. This is a story of a business tycoon in a world where he can relive his ambition to build another financial empire.
Game logic and plot structure like SIM City or Civilization than a Dungeon Crawler or Fate.

So if you like the business aspect of world building, which I have to be honest... Not so much an unique buildings or heavy village design layout plot. As he asks advisors constantly on where to go next, then uses the "Art of the Deal" negotiation and pyschology from previous life to get what he wants.

Pretty relaxes paced too, never feel any pressure or danger for the MC. But I always feel that the writer is only a plot twist or concept away from a interestingly unique story into an amazingly engrossing story.

Will buy next book in hopes the author improves on this story plot and actually creates the great book so clearly hinted at for a world builder fan.

It's kinda clever

I'm not an economist but things seem to fit together really well for this guy. Sure there are moments where you it might think something bad will happen. But, for the most part everything just works out nicely for this guy. Personally I don't think I'll pick up book two.

Neil Hellegers is a really enjoyable narrator.

Lots of fun

Really enjoyed this. Great LitRPG that does an excellent job with the town building/civ store game elements while also giving you some character depth and development. voice acting was top notch too. Looking forward to reading the next one.

A nice introduction to LitRPG

This is the first LitRPG book I've read or listened to. It was quite enjoyable and I believe I'll check out the rest of the series and more of the genre. The main protagonist is pretty interesting, though I do wish there was more emphasis on the townsfolk and not as much on the other Champions. The reader did a fine job at giving everyone their own voice.

Sim City

Just to be clear, there is no great battles in this story, but it’s world building & how he goes to do it is good. I don’t usually listen to stories like these but this one really got me listening till the end, & buying the next book. It’s worth the listen, the MC isn’t overpowered, & I want to play Sim City after listening to this.
