Summary
The first instalment of The Lunar Chronicles - a futuristic reenvisioning of Cinderella in which Cinder is a cyborg mechanic.
A forbidden romance. A deadly plague. Earth's fate hinges on one girl....
Cinder, a gifted mechanic in New Beijing, is also a cyborg. She's reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister's sudden illness. But when her life becomes entwined with the handsome Prince Kai's, she finds herself at the centre of a violent struggle between the desires of an evil queen - and a dangerous temptation.
Cinder is caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal. Now she must uncover secrets about her mysterious past in order to protect Earth's future.
This is not the fairy tale you remember. But it's one you won't forget.

Interesting concept but needed better editing
I liked the concept but the main character is far too self absorbed and the plot twists are far too obvious.
The narrator does well to bring out the positives in the main character but her accents are cringeworthy and I am left feeling that this book could have been so much better.

Good but...
The reading of this book is amazing. The story on the whole is good but at times they fixate on weird point and it comes up again and again. It is a perfect book for a teenager or an easy listen. Not bad but with a bit more could have been great. Still worth a listen.

Great take
This is a great take on a classic. A great start to the next three books. Some plots are perdictable. But still worth the listen. Off to get book two.

Addictive
The characters drew me in from the beginning. A little predictable but still utterly charming

Modern twist on an old fairy tale ish....
I liked this book, it was nicely fast paced and the interesting concepts. Modern or even futuristic spin on Cinderella tale , I'd be intrigued to see what's next for Cinder et al.
I'd like to hear more from this author and narrator

Excellent return to Cinderella, but with a twist
Never has Cinder(ella) been such a badass. Not in any book that I've ever read anyway.
A cyborg with mad mechanical genius, she was a refreshing move away from the modern daintiness often reserved for female characters in retellings and reimaginings as people struggle to avoid the usual damsel in distress tropes. Her stepmother was the perfect blend of selfishness and blasé cruelty, and her stepsisters... well, they both broke my hearts in different ways. Her Prince Charming? I loved Kai on so many levels. He was unproblematic; caring and interested, without being overbearing or overwhelming.
The Lunars gave a whole new element to the story and they were mesmerising in their own, devious way throughout.
I loved this story, and I only wish I'd read it sooner.

Love love love
I’ve read this before and I loved hearing it now as much as I read it then. It’s my favorite series. Rebecca Soler does an amazing job with reading it and the accents she puts on for the different characters never fail to make me all that much more interested in what’s happening.
Brilliant. 👌🏻👌🏻
