i really enjoyed this story, & getting to know the characters.
the narrators voice was quite stressful and annoying at times though!

Beth Moran is still a relatively new author to me. This was only my second book i’ve read by her, but I am definitely becoming a fan.

Jenny’s life has most definitely gone pear shaped. Following her engagment that never was, she has lost her boyfriend, her job, her home and her sister. Even the inheritance of her estranged Grandmother’s house in Sherwood Forest, is not the gift it seems.
Jenny is at rock bottom with a rodent infested, neglected house that she needs to somehow make into her home and precious little money to fo it with.
Next door lives the very handsome, but apparently very married Mack. A man with his own secrets and stories to tell.
When Jenny joins the local book club, we meet an eclectic bunch of truely likeable characters, who all play their part in Jenny’s story and add their own branches to this truely engaging and charming book.
Christmas is featured in the story several times, but this isn’t a full on christmas book as may be suggested by the title and cover.
It is a flippin good read though!

So many boring books about but this is definitely not one of them. This is an enjoyable, entertaining and absorbing listen. Aspects that pleased me most: not a slushy, gushing romance; lots of interesting characters and a lively and engaging prose style.
