Summary

The words we use can have a tremendous impact on a person's life. With them we can build up a heart or with them we can break one. Words can bless and words can crush, but if they're not founded in love they'll always be harmful in one way or another.

Love has always been expressed first through the lips. Before every romantic relationship begins, words of love come first. We communicate our hearts through our mouths, and whatever is bubbling over from our hearts spills forth from the mouth.

Like a kiss on the ear a beautiful word can truly bless a soul. But a bitter word can crush a spirit. The words we use can hurt, and are often taken seriously by the one we're speaking to. We ought not to be caught saying things we don't actually mean, but expressing sincerity with the heart of Christ.

Knowing this, we ought to devote ourselves to having holy, edifying, and loving tongues. For if the Gospel of Jesus comes from our mouths, then what are hurtful words doing there as well? One should be careful to abstain from negative talk, whether toward others or of ourselves. Consider devoting yourself to have lips full of love as you choose words that heal.

Excellent Bible-centered approach to encouragement

I really enjoyed this book and will continue to use it. Adam Houge uses Bible verses to help the listener purge negative/unhelpful words from their conversations with other people and focus on encouraging words that heal rather than wound. The book is short, but filled with useful suggestions about encouraging others.

This was my first Adam Houge book, but I will look for others. Michale Griffith did a good job with the narration, and I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to be an encouragment to others around them.

This book was very informative in guiding how to show compassion, humility humility, forgiveness and grace. I

I had a situation which really upset me, so I began to feel bad about it. I then started to listen to this and it gave me direction and insight on how to deal with the situation in a Christ like manner. How to make a decision to use my words properly concerning the situation instead adding further strife or confusion to the matter. Instead to use my words wisely to heal and not hurt.

Excellent! An answer for our world

I truly enjoyed how the author brought together truth with its instruction from the Word and its application. He addresses the input/output relationship with our tongues and encourages words as they edify. There is a chapter for families and communication as well as all others.

I truly believe our world would be changed positively if everyone read and put to practice this book.

Well done, Mr. Houge! I definitely recommend this book as a read and reread for everyone. I will be rereading as a reminder to keep myself and what leaves my mouth in check. Truly, it should be nothing that does not come from a place of love.

Good food!

Gives one much to consider and helps you to look inwardly. Get your own mouth under control before speaking on others and their imperfections. It is quite useful information to assist you in praying for yourself so that you may then truly speak as God desires you to do so.

Informative

The book was very interesting, but also repetitive. I did not like the narration so dry, and boring. I will read it myself :(
