Summary

Renata Cabral needs to hide for the weekend. Her cousin’s Valentine’s Day wedding means she’ll face embarrassing questions from her large, extended family. Questions like “Why aren’t you married yet?” Since the breakup of her last relationship, she’s not ready to answer that question. She invents a work-related excuse and escapes to a friend’s lakeside cottage.

Noah Brownlee has been hiding for two years. But now he’s ready to come home and mend his broken relationship with his brother. When a friend offers the use of his lakeside cottage, Noah arrives in the middle of a blizzard with his English Mastiff, only to find the place is already occupied. With her big brown eyes and quirky sense of humor, Renata stirs feelings he thought long dead.

As the blizzard rages, the candy hearts predict love. Can Valentine’s Day work its magic between them?

Fortune telling by candy! Sweet and mysterious...

This is a bite size, sweet, feel-good, emotional romance. It moves fast without feeling rushed, most of it snapshots of about 72 hours that change everything in the lives of the protagonists. They fall in love, face their demons and discover things about themselves. The book is easy to listen to and easy to commit to without having to dedicate hours of listening. There is a guaranteed HEA and a generally positive feel and enjoyable lightness to the story. It is perfect for those moments when a reader wants something short and sweet, much like a candy heart!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Heartwarming!

I really enjoyed this short, sweet, heartwarming story. This is the first story I have listened to by Jana Richards however I will definitely be looking for more by this author. The couple in this story ended up together at a mutual friend’s cabin during a snow storm and this is where the story takes place. Renata and Noah both had my heart right from the beginning and I loved the way the author developed their relationship within such a short story. The addition of Spike, the English Mastiff, and the candy hearts predicting love was genius! It was easy to listen to this book in one sitting and I definitely didn’t want to put it down until I found out what would happen between this sweet pair, and Spike of course. Steve Wojtas did a wonderful job narrating, making it easy to differentiate between voices and emotions and giving a very entertaining listening experience. I highly recommend this heartwarming story. I received a free copy and am providing an unbiased review.

Short & Sweet Contemporary Romance

This was such a heartwarming story with interesting characters. The story grabbed my attention from the beginning to the HEA conclusion.

Narration was good and brought the story to life.

Although, this was a short story, it did not feel like pieces were missing or too rushed. The dog and heart candy with predicting abilities were an excellent touch to this story.

I’m looking forward to reading more books by this talented author.

Communication is key

The romance in this book is very fast, pretty much love at first sight.

Renata and Noah have both been burned in love before, this leads to neither being willing to talk about what they're feeling and it's frustrating.

I think the dog (Spike) was the highlight of the book, he was super cute. Oh, and the use of the candy hearts was cute too.

I did like it, but it felt a bit rushed, I'd have prefered the book to cover more time.

The narration is well done and the character voices were distinct and recognisable.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Sweet Romance with a Big Heart

Renata and Noah are so sweet. They drove me to growling at times, but once they got on the same page they became pure magic. I definitely identified with poor Renata's stress points. I was 27 when I met my own husband I was 27 when I met my own husband, and it was hard to wait. This romance is very well written, and the narration is excellent as well. This is a voluntary review of a copy gifted by the author.

Canadian Blizzard, Two People Find Each Other

I received a copy for an honest and voluntary review.

Asleep on a couch at her friend’s cabin Renata wakes being slobbered on by a dog. There’s a man with long hair and beard in the kitchen, Noah. Turns out Renata’s friend lent her the cabin and her husband lent his friend the cabin also. A blizzard traps them there for the weekend.
Renata is almost 30,comes from a large family who press marriage..she hasn’t had luck in the love department and on Valentines weekend is hiding out.
Noah just came back into the country, has only a brother as family and they had a falling out he bows wants to mend.
Two people who have run from very different families and yet are understand and like each other. Is the forced togetherness going to lead to something more? Got to read those little candy hearts with the sayings on them to find out!
Cute, sweet, lovable characters who get to know each other..acute dog, sweet candies and enjoyable story you want to finish in one sitting.
Narrator was fantastic! His voice was absolutely perfect for Noah and each male character is different. He also did a nice job with Renata...I’ll look for his name in the future.
Recommend for a short and very enjoyable story.
