About this listen
I came here seeking sanctuary, I never meant to fall for the broody single dad next door.
I've spent my life hiding in plain sight, burying my past beneath layers of carefully constructed lies. Moving to Sparrow Falls was supposed to be a fresh start. A place to lay low. But when I end up living next door to the single dad who just happens to be one of my brother’s best friends, everything changes.
Trace Colson sees too much, asks too many questions, and his protectiveness is as infuriating as it is alluring.
And when danger comes calling, it’s Trace who stands between me and the darkness.
But being close to him is its own kind of risk. Because with every heated glance and every stolen touch, Trace tempts me to open my heart, to dream of a life I’d long since given up on. The only problem? Trace has his own demons, and when they collide with mine, the fallout could destroy us both.
Forever.

“You’ve taken every bit of pain and turned it into fuel. The best father. The best brother. The best man. I will never run from you because you’re everything I ever dreamed of.”
Ellie and Trace are both trying to hold back because of their families and their pasts, but nothing can keep the feelings at bay.
“I’ve been searching for something for as long as I can remember. Looking for belonging, safety. I’ve been chasing shelter, and you’re the one who finally gave it to me.”
There was so much suspense and danger that I was on the edge of my seat, but the romance, humor (yes I’m talking about Lolli!!) and just sweet small town storylines kept me invested. I didn’t want the story to end!
I listened to most of this book on audio and the narrators were absolutely amazing!! Audiobook is definitely the way to go with this one!!!

I fell so hard for strait laced, grumpy, but hotter than hell sheriff Trace and his ray of sunshine next door neighbour Ellie, and Trace’s daughter Keely was the cute icing on the cake!
I adore the Colson crew and have always had my eye on the family caretaker and town Sheriff Trace. I was so excited to read his story and see Ellie bring him to his knees in the best way! Trace and Ellie both had traumatic pasts, but while Trace valued order and routine and saw the world in black and white, Ellie’s approach was rainbows and chaos. On paper it shouldn’t work, but they were perfect for each other.
I loved watching their growth throughout the story as Trace started to let loose and enjoy life with Ellie’s encouragement and Trace protected and supported Ellie to find her own way. Their relationship might have been slow burn, but their chemistry was hotter than Ellie’s kitchen fire and when the spice hit, it hit HARD!
Catherine writes the best suspense storylines and once again, despite being suspicious of EVERYONE, I still didn’t guess the bad guy! One of these days …
Chasing Shelter is an emotional, heartwarming, and devastatingly romantic story that will live rent free in my heart forever. If you’ve not picked up this series yet, then you need to!
Audio review
The audio of this is absolute perfection and Jason Clarke and Desiree Ketchum bring Trace, Ellie and the Colson crew to life perfectly. I could listen to Jason’s rumbly baritone all day and his growly interpretation of Trace had the hairs standing up on the back of my neck in the best way! Desiree’s portrayal of sunshiny, sweet Ellie couldn’t have been better and her banter with Trace and Lolli had me laughing out loud.
Audio perfection!

Trace and Ellie both carry deep wounds, but together they find something beautifully healing—and totally swoony. The tension is palpable (in more ways than one), and let’s just say, if you like your small-town romance with a side of danger and a splash of forbidden, you’ll devour this.
Omg!! Lolli is still an absolute firecracker🤩. I adore her spunk, her sass, and every scene she steals with her one-liners and wisdom. More Lolli in everything, please.🙏
Jason Clarke and Desiree Ketchum absolutely nail the narration—bringing just the right grit, heart, and heat to the story.
I need to talk about Leah… She surprised the heck out of me—in the best way (took a while though 😅. I wouldn’t be mad if Catherine gave her a novella and a little HEA for her & her new guy🤫.
Now I’m counting down the days until we return to Sparrow Falls…
🦄fave quote🌈
“Chief…”
My gaze flicked to Ellie’s face. “Yeah?”
“Why are you staring at me like I’m committing atrocities of war right now?”
I scrubbed a hand over my stubbled cheek. “To be fair, you are currently committing atrocities against my dishwasher.”
Ellie gaped at me. “I rinsed these thoroughly.”🫣🫣🫣😬

“He’s such a stick-in-the-mud. How about you and I hit up the cowboy bar instead? Save a horse, ride a cowboy?”
“Why would you ride a cowboy, Supergran? That seems silly. Or is it like a piggyback ride?” Keely asked innocently. Trace’s scowl morphed into a glare. “Thanks so much, Lolls.”
She just laughed. “Just like that, my girl.”
Keely looked up at her dad, beaming. “I wanna save a horse and ride a cowboy.”
“Dear God, take me now,” Trace muttered…😂🤠
