Summary

Charlie Jonquil is mild-mannered and kind — except when it comes to his one true adversary, Artemis Lancaster. Though Charlie has a brilliant mind for mathematics, Artemis poses a problem he can’t seem to comprehend: How can one be so lovely and so infuriating? A party in London brings him into the company of the maddening young lady, and it is clear that Charlie’s disdain is mutual. But when an unfortunate incident between the pair involving Charlie’s jacket and a glass of raspberry shrub leads to scandal, the sworn enemies are left with only two options: Be ruined or be married.

So it is that Artemis finds herself in a most outrageous predicament: She must wed a gentleman she’s hated for years — and she pledges to avoid him at all costs. But it is only when they enter into this mockery of a marriage that Charlie and Artemis learn things are not as simple as they once appeared. As their tentative ceasefire leads to friendship, it seems their marriage born of desperation might lead them to a love that was destined to be.

Exceptional!!

There is so much good happening in this book. The blending of these families is masterful. Each of these beloved characters is given their moment to shine while making a meaningful contribution to the story. In addition to the exceptional story, the narration is extraordinary!! Thank you so much for providing these hours of heartfelt enjoyment . . .

Loved it

I'd already read the book but just listened to this audio version and loved it. I loved the story itself even better the second time around and I loved the narrator. She does a wonderful job with the voices.

Brilliant ending for the Lancaster and Jonquil families' series. But I'm so conflicted. I was so excited to get this book and then so sad to know it is the last one. So am I happy or sad? Both I suppose. I never wanted the series to end but if it has to end, this book was a really sweet way for it to do so. Emotions run high through out the story. There is some grief and sorrow but also so much love and acceptance. The story belongs to Artemis and Charlie but in concluding the series, the book also included all the important people. We got new information and wonderful connections. Many doubts and fears are resolved and everyone really can move forward.
While this book can stand alone I think, it is probably best to read through the books in order to get the full experience. I reread both series in anticipation of this book. It was wonderful to read them all in a short period of time. I really have loved these books. I feel like I'm saying good-bye to old friends in finishing the series. Sigh....

narration is very whiny - story questionable

this one has a lot of ups and downs but the narration so whiny it makes it very hard to listen to and I kept waiting for it to get better just had to finally stop .

predictable

Ms Ingram is barely okay with her accents and probably okay if you've never lived in the UK. The story was predictable but I kept listening to it hoping I was wrong. Oh well!

Boring and uninteresting. Disappointing finale

I usually love Sarah Eden books, the Lancaster Family and Jonquil brothers have become personal favorites, but this finale was a huge let down. It started with an unbelievable, overly emotional and dramatic scene which was the focal point of the whole book. Emotional neglect and trauma are real things, but hard to believe that Artemis's felt so connected to this older man. It was strange and uncomfortable. I felt no butterflies or magic between Artemis and Charlie. Their conflicts and resolution was all so dramatic and yet boring at the same time. So much about this story was overly predictable. No surprises. The book spent most of the time wrapping up and explaining every other loose end and possible connection between the families and friends from the rest of the series, it made for a very long drawn out ending. I love this genre for its clean, sweet stories - but this one was just sappy, not clever at all. I kept listening hoping it would get better, but it was a waste of my time. Sorry Sarah Eden I know you can do better than this!

Beautiful Ending

I have been reading these books one at a time as they've come out over the years. I really grew attached to this family and I feel like one of them myself. I have suspected that these two would end up together for a while now. It was as satisfying and loving as I hoped it would be. A beautiful ending to a wonderful series.

Loved!!

A wonderful ending to a beautiful series. I am a huge fan of Sarah M. Eden’s novels. Her writing gives me all the feels every time. Makes me feel apart if the story. Anxious to see what’s next with the new characters. Hoping more from the Huntresses and the Cambridge boys. Although the Gents are an interesting group too.

This is the knot

This ties in all that has been happening for the last several years in the Lancaster and jonquil series beautiful providing Easter eggs and snapshots for the new Gents series while possibly setting up a series involving Charlie’s friends and the huntresses.

All great stuff. One of her better ones for sure.

An Excellent Story

If you have read the other books of the Jonquil brothers, this is the perfect ending book for the youngest brother Charlie. It brings all the brothers back together and the Lancaster sisters back together for what family is truly about.
