An inspiring true story about the healing power of water from one of the world's best known female anglers

In her early twenties, drifting and directionless, Marina Gibson fled the city for the countryside, and picked up a fishing rod for the first time in years. She was returning to a childhood pursuit and a passion passed on by her mother.

Fishing overtook Marina's life as she grew enraptured by the quiet magic of angling. Whiling away hours by a Highland river or a local chalk stream, with only the ritual of casting and the music of the water for company, Marina found an escape from a failing marriage and a connection to a tradition of female anglers stretching back generations.

Alongside the twists and turns of her own story, Marina traces the epic migratory journey of the Atlantic salmon and its fight for survival against the odds. Cast Catch Release is a love letter to the water, and what it means to find peace and purpose in the great outdoors.©2024 Marina Gibson (P)2024 Hodder & Stoughton Limited

Loved Marina’s book, it was fascinating to hear all about not only her fishing exploits but also her life growing up and indeed the twists and turns of her life and how they have interacted with her Fishing 🎣 passion. If I were to be critical in anyway (which I’m not) I’d love to have heard more as to where the money comes from to finance all these amazing trips - only reason I say this is because I would love to go on any one of these adventures.

Thoroughly honest and intriguing

A fantastic audiobook to listen to, especially when fly tying. Very inspirational too. Well done Marina, please can we have another book soon?

I loved this book and it has really made me want to try fly fishing after a childhood of fishing the rivers and sea in Oz. Well done and thanks for writing. Dingo

Thoroughly enjoyed listening too this book, well narrated by Marina herself and a great insight into the trials and tribulations of someone wanting to get into a career path that has it's many hurdles along the way as well as ups and down in general life.

Caused me to think back on the the joy and peace I found in fishing when i was younger with my Grandfather and want to reclaim that feeling and joy in spare time when available. As unfortunately life has gotten in the way over the last few years. On top of this intrigued me to look further afield at potential trips away from Scotland and put more effort into my minimal fly fishing skills.

Great Listen, Inspiring

An excellent story of Marina's fishing and non fishing life. The highs and lows. And how they intersect.

The author is highly engaging and has a clear tone. Which always helps.

I'd recommend this book to anyone whether interested in fishing or not. Whatever works to escape the day to day. Walking, swimming, photography, fishing. All have their place.

I look forward to more of her works in whatever medium she decides to use.

Fantastic Audiobook
