Life happens when you least expect it....
Carol Scott has everything planned. She’ll finish her studies, do her internship, and return to Refuge to help run the medical center being built by her pack - the Ravens. When the time is right, she’ll chose a male from her pack to mate with, push out a few pups, and life will continue - nice, neat, and orderly, just the way she likes it.
Then she meets Mark Johnson, sexy, handsome...human. Forbidden. A man who won’t take no for an answer. He stirs her senses and even has her wolf sitting up and paying attention. What’s a girl to do? Obey the rules or follow her heart and damn the consequences?
Then the choice is taken out of her hands.

Didn't want it to end!
These two were so drawn to one another they couldn't stay away. Their feelings get tested and they have to decide whether their love can withstand anything. I teared up, laughed out loud & almost everything in between. This story hits all the bases of paranormal romance.

Carol's Mate- True Beginnings
I love True Mates. Carol's Mate is the prequel to this series. The start of those finding their one and only. Carol's story tells of how shape shifters are able to find their mate from humans. When Carol goes off to college, she never dreamt of meeting someone she would be attracted to. With one sniff, Mark enters Carol's life and things will never be the same.
Zena Wynn tells a wonderful story that leaves us excited about the next chapter. Heather Auden reads seamlessly and with passion. I liked her voice and would listen to her read another.

A story of a shifter’s redemption
The thing that I love about Zena’s true mate series is that they are all amazingly different. For Carol’s mate, we get to see a shifter female being perused by a human male. The hero at times seems a little too much like a stalker or possessive in his regard for her but the story and their relationship explained this very well as you listen on. By the end you get to see a man who put his player ways behind him and do everything in his power to show the woman he loves that he can’t live without her by learning to live with her and her beast.
The narrator did some great work with the voices. The male characters all have distinct mannerisms and the ladies aren’t bad either. There were a few parts were it got choppy in editing and where it sounds like she’s recording in a room that echos her voice or someone is talking in the background but this happened no more than three times.
Love the growth of the hero, the family the heroine makes for herself and the portrayal of shifters here by Ms.Wynn. She has created a fascinating world that keeps me coming back for more!
