About this listen

 Carmen - die Femme fatale, die verführerische Zigeunerin. Die gleichnamige Oper von Bizet gehört zu den meistgespielten Stücken der Operngeschichte. Grundlage für das weltberühmte Libretto war Mérimées 1847 erschienene Novelle. In ihr erzählt der Autor die Geschichte des Wächters Don José, der in einer Tabakmanufaktur in Sevilla auf die Zigeunerin Carmen trifft.
