This is a difficult topic to face but the author has shared her expertise and experience and this provides reassurance and clear guidance on how to approach aging parents' changing health and care needs. As my parents approach 80years of age, I am noticing more forgetfulness so listening to this book is timely for me.
The audiobook is compassionate without being patronising, in fact the author's voice is wise and caring and really offers the reader support and when discussing this very sensitive but important subject. And also brings in guidance on self-care if your role needs to shift to becoming more of a carer - really important,. highly recommend.

As I nestled into my favorite chair, earbuds in place, I embarked on an auditory journey with "Caring for Aging Parents." I was met with a treasure trove of wisdom that felt akin to finding an oasis in a desert. The book, narrated with the warmth of a dear friend, became my daily companion, gently guiding me through the labyrinth of caregiver's guilt and the jungle of legal jargon.

Each chapter unraveled the complexities of caregiving with the deftness of a master storyteller, offering practical advice that served as my North Star. The sections on managing the emotional roller coaster? Pure gold. They were like a personal therapist, giving me permission to breathe amid the chaos. And the financial guidance? I'd liken it to a lighthouse, illuminating the murky waters of estate planning and insurance.

The book didn't just talk at me; it walked with me, offering a hand to hold when making those tough medical decisions. It was like having a wise elder in the room, nodding in understanding and pushing me towards self-care without a hint of condescendence.

Navigating the caregiver's journey can be as tricky as a tightrope walk over a canyon, but this guide had me feeling like a seasoned acrobat, twirling with confidence. It whispered secrets of balance and sanity, transforming my burdened shuffle into a graceful dance.

In the end, I didn't just find a guide to caring for my parents; I found a manifesto for reclaiming my peace of mind. For anyone teetering on the edge of caregiver burnout, consider this book your safety net. Trust me, it's the hug you need and the coach you deserve!

There is so much more to caring for elderly and when it's your parents you really feel the pain deep. They were your support from childhood onwards and now the tables are turned. This book explains everything you need to know to care for them the best you can. Coping strategies to prevent burnout and the stress were particularly worth mentioning! The chapter on navigating the legal and financial matters is another chapter that provides you with a wealth of information to help you along the way. Elizabeth Roth really shows she cares to help carers provide the best care possible, while still taking care of oneself too! The book even goes one step further and has a chapter on dealing with loss after caring and this really is special. If you are caring for a loved one, you need this book. You won't regret it.
