About this listen

Time Core versus Mind Core. See the future—or steal it.

Danny Taylor thinks he's just the butler. Then, his eccentric employer's apocalyptic predictions, impossibly, come true. In an instant, the Earth transforms into a ruthless world of magic governed by an unforgiving System. His master gains land and authority, but an unexplained afflictions renders him unable to rule his new kingdom.

Now the realm's fate rests on Danny's shoulders.

His master, Danny learns, is fleeing a mind-devouring demon from the future. Danny must find and kill this elusive enemy before it consumes them all, armed with a nascent but rare Time Core. Among his powers is the ability to return to the past and retrace his steps. But foreknowledge is a double-edged sword against a foe who can steal thoughts.

Danny must navigate a web of secrets, master his growing powers, and turn from prey to predator in a deadly cat-and-mouse chase across time and back.

Butler to a Core Lord is a litrpg apocalypse story featuring time loops and deck drawing mechanics. It is inspired in part by those rare science fiction and fantasy thrillers such as Death Note and Primer. This story contains fantasy violence but no adult content. Join Danny's rise from servant to savior!

i listen to an ungodly amount of litrpg and it gets stale and repeats after a while, this is a brilliant entry in to a series with a great story and performance that I would happily inject in my brain again if I got memory wiped.

A thoroughly enjoyable time looping card battler litrpg that manages a decent, if rushed, conclusion in a single book. This is notable as it's rare for litrpg books to be standalone, let alone good!

There could be a slightly better balance of character exploration to combat - we're more on the Dragonball side of things than Death Note story wise here, with touches of Edge of Tomorrow thrown in.

Also the end of the story feels a little rushed, perhaps muddled, and is my least favourite part in a generally good book.

Really incredible that this is Paul's debut book! I've already followed for updates on new releases.

A worthy card focused time looping debut

A butler is whisked away to system-fyed apoc scenario and his employer is given ultimate power at the cost of being left in a vegetative state, what's a butler to do.

The story has mana cores, a card based system, time loop mechanics, dungeons, twists and turns and the action just keeps ramping up. What's not to love?

A great take on time travel that keeps the excitement high. Fantastic narration, good pacing and all finished after one book!

Finished in one book. What is this magic?

I advise you to skip this. The story is very boring, there is no character development and the world building is close to none. Missing pretty much all the thing that make fantasy books interesting.

Boring, narrow story
