About this listen

Styled on the old-fashioned, complicated mysteries beloved by Perry Mason fans. The sort of classic tales where everyone's story keeps chaning and no one would dream of calling the cops.

Old Vincent Farwell announces at a house party that he will not extend his $1.5 million loan to Ellandy Jewels. The six young people assembled, all with varied interests in the company, leave to consider their options. Then one by one or in pairs, they return to Vincent's house, find he's been murdered, draw assorted conclusions about which of the others did it, and proceed to alter the scene according to their intentions.

It honestly wasn't until I was about 20 minutes in that I realised the 3 couples involved don't actually hate each other - it was just the voices the narrator was giving them. They seemed to be speaking to other in such tones of withering sarcasm and contempt that I failed to take the language at face value and so got very confused once the action started. Once I had got over the bizarre way the narrator did the voices I enjoyed the story. This is one where you should listen to the whole of the sample and really consider whether you can stand his style before buying.

Good story but the narrator is awful
