About this listen

Part memoir, part guide, Burning My Roti is essential listening for a new generation of South Asian women.

With chapters covering sexual and cultural identity, body hair, colourism and mental health, and a particular focus on the suffocating beauty standards South Asian women are expected to adhere to, Sharan Dhaliwal speaks openly about her journey toward loving herself, offering advice, support and comfort to people that are encountering the same issues.

This provocative audiobook celebrates the strides South Asian women have made, whilst also providing powerful advice through personal stories by Sharan and other South Asian women from all over the world.

I thought this maybe the usual odd racism tidbits and sugar coated with when I was young and things are better now so never mind story.BUT this is not that kinda book; no it’s actually Honest and sincere without sounding like a manifesto(Which books like GWO tries to be) this is to the point and I found it to be real.
This is for the racists who have a problem with women -especially SAW and think sarcastically pointing out we should put up with misogyny because we can’t be independent (+minded) and strong enough to demand change if in our motherland;so should be putting up with their brutality.
Grateful for this audio format too and prefer that the author narrated this. Thanks to the author.
