About this listen

Nathan has never been able to forget the worst night of his life: the party that led to the sudden death of a young woman. Only he and Bob, an untrustworthy old acquaintance, know what really happened and they have resolved to keep it that way.

But one rainy night, years later, Bob appears at Nathan's door with terrifying news, and old wounds are suddenly reopened...

If you could sum up Burial in three words, what would they be?

Fast, freaky and scarey

What other book might you compare Burial to, and why?

I can't compare any other books it was very different.

What does Paul Thornley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

He brings the characters to life and makes Bob really strange which I guess he is.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Heading for trouble in the woods.

Any additional comments?

I really liked this book. It started off with Bob turning up at Nathan's house to advise him that a housing estate was being built in the woods. It then takes you back years earlier were Bob and Nathan meet a young girl at a party. They all have too much coke and alcohol. I'm not giving anything else away but it happens in the woods.

The Woods was the wrong place to go

A very unusual but strangely compelling story that was part suspense-thriller and partly almost a black comedy. Certainly kept me engrossed with its unpredictable plot. It was a bit like Shallow Grave meets Engleby.

Unpredictable, uncomfortable, full of suspense

Loved this book! It grips you straight away and gets into the real story in the first page. Couldn't stop listening as the book is one of the few ones that make you care about the characters.

Brilliant!

This audio book was ok-ish. Story was not bad. Narration was poor. The story is dragged out for a long period that wasn't necessary. Good suspense moments though.
