Summary
Discover the full potential of your ideas and make powerful, meaningful improvements in your work and life by Building a Second Brain.
For the first time in history, we have instantaneous access to the world's knowledge. There has never been a better time to learn, to create and to improve ourselves. Yet, rather than being empowered by this information, we're often overwhelmed, paralysed by believing we'll never know or remember enough.
This eye-opening and accessible guide shows how you can easily create your own personal system for knowledge management, otherwise known as a Second Brain. A trusted and organised digital repository of your most valued ideas, notes and creative work, a Second Brain gives you the confidence to tackle your most important projects and ambitious goals. From identifying good ideas, to organising your thoughts, to retrieving everything swiftly and easily, it puts you back in control of your life and information.

Some good tips
I learned 5/6 ways that could help, so worthwhile in that respect. But it’s like a lot of these books in that it’s way too long with lots of padding.
The result is a lot of reading/listening for just 5 -10 minutes of valuable tips.
Quite enjoyable when you find something of use, but for the time it takes to read whole book you’d probably find more tips on YouTube

The author mocks the intelligence of the listener
I should have read the negative reviews before purchasing. I can only assume the multitude of positive reviews are fake. The author just goes on and on without providing useful information. I listened to over an hour and now know about the author's medical history, have been told endlessly about how important note taking is (not sure the author understands that's why I purchased the book so I understand that and don't need to be told that endlessly), and was insulted when the author told me that I'd learned four new concepts (no I didn't - I just learned that the author tried to take my money and successfully wasted my time).

Not worth buying
I think all the positive reviews are by people that are swimming in the clouds. I didn’t find this book helpful at all it’s a shame because I like the author

excellent
- The moment you discover an idea is the worst time to decide what it means.
- For knowledge workers, attention is the most precious resource. A wealth of information creates a poverty of attention.
- Creativity depends on a creative process.
- Emotions rather organize, than disrupt, rational thinking
- One of the biggest temptations with organization of information is getting too perfectionist.
- The ability to be succint, without leaving out key details, is what leads to exciting conversations.
- Express your ideas earlier, more frequently, and In smaller chunks to test what works and gather feedback from others.
- Sometimes, the problem is not lack of time, is the the fact that we forget we have control.
- Do not treat knowledge as disposable. Cut, remove, archive - never delete.
- Discoverability is an important feature of managing your notes.
- When are we ever not pressed for time?! Organize for action.

Ok, but could’ve been much shorter
Contents’ good, but could’ve been summarized in a couple of hours instead of 7+ dragging hours. (Listened in 3x thank goodness 🙏)
Didn’t like that to get the resources you need to opt-in your email on his website.
I read a visual summary by a former student of his on google and that helped tremendously to put all the info together.

Disjointed / patchwork
Patches together concepts from other books without real depth / cohesiveness, while introducing a few new elements which don’t really add anything / make sense.

An outlet for your brain
While I found the book useful I do think this could have been shortened to deliver key points. I imagine Tiago’s website complements the book but don’t add life changing, I have yet to check so I could be proven wrong
To anyone thinking about getting this book I would first check out his website and build your second brain there

Based on 2 simple but effective principles
A complete rendition including audio descriptions of tables and reference to Upto date information to compliment the book being accessible online made for a good experience.
Personally, I found the narrative too slow and four my learning style, could have been shorter.
Some good principles though that can be personalised into a working system.
