About this listen

They have ties that bind.

June grew up in the shadow of her brother and his best friend, Drew McKenna. She stood back while Drew dated his way through high school and college, watching and waiting. Waiting for him to realize he loved her as much as she loved him.

When he did, it was the happiest she'd ever been. Until she found him with another woman only five years after their marriage.

Leaving her husband was a simple decision, but there was no easy way to cut him out of her family. When June receives a fresh start to her career, she also finds what could be a new lease on love. Reality hits Drew with a vengeance.

He wants her back.

She wants to make him suffer.

Contains mature themes.

the male narrator is spot on, you can feel emotions in Thier reading. however, but the female narrators voice comes over a winey and pompous. the story is so focused on the emotions story there is very little action in the story which does get boring.

This book may not be for everyone, but it was exactly what I needed at the time. The theme of infidelity created a tense, emotional atmosphere that kept me glued to the pages. The angst was overwhelming and gripping, and the writing was strong, keeping me engaged throughout.

Even though the story is told from both perspectives, we get more insight into June's point of view. I really admired how she handled the betrayal - she’s a fighter who doesn’t hold back when confronting her husband’s infidelity.

That said, I felt June didn’t make Drew suffer enough for his cheating. His transformation from a serial cheater felt too sudden, and there wasn’t nearly enough grovelling. Did I like Drew? No. Beyond the cheating, he made so many poor choices that I doubted he could truly change.

I would have liked a dual timeline to see what they were like before marriage - it would have added more depth to their relationship.

Narration was great.
