About this listen

Even when it seems hopeless, there can always be a better tomorrow.

Jill Bishop has one goal in life—to survive. Jill is trapped in an abusive marriage while raising two young girls. Her husband has isolated her from the world and filled her days with fear. The last thing on her mind is love, but she sure could use a friend.

Alex McCoy is enjoying a comfortable life with great friends and a prosperous business. She has given up on love after picking the wrong woman one too many times. Little does she know, a simple act of kindness might change her life forever.

When Alex lends a helping hand to Jill at the local grocery store, they are surprised by their immediate connection and an unlikely friendship develops. As their friendship deepens, so too do their fears.

In order to protect herself and the girls, Jill can’t let her husband know about her friendship with Alex, and Alex can’t discover what goes on behind closed doors. What would Alex do if she finds out the truth? At the same time, Alex must fight her attraction and be the friend she suspects Jill needs. Besides, Alex knows what every lesbian knows—don’t fall for a straight woman, especially one that’s married…but will her heart listen?

such a brilliant book , Rita Potter created such believable characters

I must admit I did find myself shouting at a few of the characters choices and actions once or twice but that's a sign of how drawn into and invested in the story line and characters I was, I consider it a sign of good writing .
Heidi Bindhammer narration was also brilliant and really brought the book to life even more

brilliant and sensitively written

Loved this well worth the listen .. narrator voice enjoyable too .. Abby craden and Lori prince favourites and struggle sometimes with others but this Narrator pulled it off

yes part of me is male, but the world would be better if an artificial semen could be produced.

this is a high angst novel, well written, but with a back story and more that sickens the stomach

maybe, I thought, a bit long with the "she's straight " and " tell her" , but as usual I remember I once went through this taking almost 10 months to tell her

I've heard the narrator before and been impressed, perhaps it's the subject matter, but it didn't seem to be upto par

After only a couple of books, I can't wait to read/listen to more of Rita Potters' work.

men are vile

The story: so good for the first half, but Alex's character becomes deeply frustrating and makes the story drawn out in a not enjoyable fashion.

The narration: So lacking, no distinct voices, lines delivered with no feeling, just eurgh.

I'd read the book again perhaps, perhaps the narration made the second half more frustrating than it was, but not listen.

Great first 50% then downhill sadly
