About this listen

Set during England's bloody and brutal War of the Roses, this is the second novel in an epic historical fiction series. If you liked Conn Iggulden's Stormbird, you will love Toby Clements' Kingmaker novels.

October 1463. England is a divided nation. In the north the Lancastrian king struggles to hold power while in the south the princes of the house of York prepare for war. Across this land, pursued by the church and the law, a young man, Thomas, and a young woman, Catherine, make their way, bearing proof of a secret both sides will kill to learn.

Bent on revenge for a past outrage, Thomas and Catherine journey to the mighty castle of Bamburgh to join a weakening king as he marshals his army to take up arms in one of the most savage civil wars in history: the War of the Roses.

I think Jack Hawkins' voice is great for the task. I thoroughly enjoyed the 1st book (Winter Pilgrims) and the 2nd is equally as good. I am downloading the 3rd as I type!

A marvellous story, engaging and compelling from beginning to end. Violent sanguine, urine soaked adventure.
The reader is perfect voicing characters to perfection.

A tremendous follow up.
