Summary

DI Kate Burrows thought she'd never face a killer like the Grantley Ripper again. But she was wrong. One by one, children are being abandoned. Thankfully, they're rescued from harm. Then one victim is not so lucky, and Kate knows she's in a race against time to save lives. Kate's finding the case tough and she needs the support of her lover, Patrick Kelly, more than ever. But Patrick's got his own problems.

A dead body's turned up in his Soho club and, although he insists he's been set-up, Kate begins to doubt him. It's not the first time Patrick's reputation has compromised her position. But now there's a maniac to catch and Kate can't let anyone - not even Patrick - get in her way.

Excellent Listen

Excellently written and an excellent listen. I could not switch off. Narrator is excellent at all characters. You can actually visualise them if you close your eyes. I have downloaded, Lady Killer, however I wished I had known it was book 1. Nevertheless I will still enjoy it nonetheless.

Broken

Another great book from a number one author, read by Annie Aldington with her own way of carrying you along through each chapter. I'm one word spellbinding a great combination.

Good book but could do with a tweak

Great book but with 2 bugbears for me! 1 Kate is such a strong woman in the 1st book. it's a really shame to see her loesing her ethical/principled mindset for a man. 2 Worse Russian accents I've herd! I know it's supposed to be partly anglicised & not 100% pickled in sauerkraut but it's bad - such a shame when the narrator dose cockney so well without a sniff of Vic VanDike!

A gripping story. Hard to stop listening

What did you love best about Broken?

Very clever story, takes the listener through to a completely different ending than expected.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The lead male, though his name escapes me. Because he was not as hardened as he pretended to be to his peers.

Have you listened to any of Annie Aldington’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When the daughter was kidnapped.
