About this listen

DENVER

The Hallow Ranch was left to me, the first-born son. Before I inherited the ranch, I left to serve my country. When I came back to embrace my destiny, I was tricked.

One night of lies and betrayal led me here. Without a brother. With a son. The Hallow Ranch is my focus. I have to ensure my son's future, whatever it takes. That includes ignoring the beautiful woman trying to take what's mine.

VALERIE

I have a job to do. Did I enjoy this job? No, but it pays for my mom's chemo. She's all I have left. When I was assigned to propose the pipeline's offer to the Hallow Ranch, I expected some old rancher.

I never saw Denver Langston coming—gorgeous, rude, and stubborn. The Hallow Ranch account would cover our bills for two years, but this rancher isn't letting me have it. Saddle up, cowboy, because I'm not giving up without a fight.

Contains mature themes.

This one started amazing for me, combining two of my favorite sub-genres: dark romance and cowboy romance.
I did however grew quickly tired of the MMC moodiness and his neanderthal ways. I thought the constant repetition of "city girl" was going to do me in, then the perpetual reference to the MMC 's "smoke". But I could tolerate those. What really takes the cake for me was the constant threats of the MMC to "take the FMC over his knees" every. single. time. she disagreed with him (and no, not in a kinky way).

That said, I loved the narrators, particularly the female voice: she was able to express all the sadness and void of the FMC's life, her lover for her mum and fear to lose her, her loneliness and melancholy.

Great narration but overall meh
