About this listen

In the shore town of Sea Breeze, Sadie discovers that fame is nothing in the face of passion in this steamy novel from bestselling author Abbi Glines.

Sadie White’s mom is pregnant and refuses to work, leaving Sadie to take over her summer job as a domestic servant for a wealthy family on a nearby island.

When the family arrives at their summer getaway, Sadie is surprised to learn that the owner of the house is Jax Stone, one of the hottest teen rockers in the world. If Sadie were normal—if she hadn’t spent her life raising her mother and taking care of the house—maybe she’d be excited about working for a rock star. But she’s not.

Everything about Sadie fascinates Jax—even though she seems unimpressed by him—but he fights his attraction: Relationships never work in his world, and as badly as he wants Sadie, he believes she deserves more. Yet as the summer stretches on, Jax’s passion leaves him breathless…and Sadie feels like the only source of oxygen.

Can their love overcome the disparity in their lifestyles? One breath at a time, they’re going to find out.

The book was fun and well-written, though not an awful lot happens in the story. Just be aware that this is really more YA (Young Adult) with sex, rather than NA (New Adult). The protagonist is 17 years old, still in school and the themes are the typical coming-of-age and identity-development ones of teen books. There were some believability issues, but the story flowed well and was enough fun to listen to that I'll consider other books by Abbie Glines

I preferred the male narrator. The female narrator had a very staccato way of speaking which made the heroine sound flip and casual, even when the words/story indicated that she wasn't.

More YA than NA, but fun
