Summary

Frankie Verdi, Eddie Williams and Tony Thompson are The Three Dogs. A ruthless criminal gang. A law unto themselves.

Detective Jim Hacker has watched the Dogs grow from thuggish youths to psychotic criminals and seems to be the only cop in town with the determination to see justice done.

Meanwhile Jamie Strange, a young Royal Marine, finds himself embroiled in the lives of the gang when his girlfriend, Laurie Holland, cuts off their engagement...to be with the most dangerous of The Dogs: Frankie Verdi. Strange knows right from wrong, but when Verdi begins to target Jamie's family, he makes an enemy of a man more dangerous than even he could imagine.

Terrific characterisation and narration

This is a really well crafted novel. The characters are deep and interesting and the performance was exceptional. I thoroughly enjoyed the interweaving of the characters.

Great story

Overall, a great story with good voice acting.

I didn’t like the very end, though. It didn’t really make much sense.

Engrossing

Robert White is becoming one of my favourite authors. His writing style is unique and like his other books the story is told from the perspective of each of the characters. This is a sad but engrossing tale that draws you in from start to finish. Well worth the money.

Perfection

This novel had it all. Depth of story, rich and believable characters, realistic dialogue and enough drama with surprising twists to keep you guessing. I admit I am hard to please and I exchange books more often than I'd like. I especially cannot deal with poor narration or unrealistic dialogue that is inappropriate to the story. This is a gritty yarn about crime and human emotion and I was not yanked out of the story even once by amateur or clumsy writing. Robert White knows what he is doing and I will be purchasing everything audible has available from him. This is the second title I have listened to and they have both been excellent. There is a strong element of violence but only where it belongs. No graphic description just for the sake of it. Just realistic, damned good writing. Thank you Robert White :)

Great Read

I truly enjoyed this audio book. It was well worth the credit. Kept me on edge and a very good story. Frank was truly a Monster and Tony a non-feeling cold blooded killer.
