About this listen

On a chilly November afternoon in 1998, a tearful 36-year-old man walked into the Humboldt County Sheriff's Department in Eureka, California, and confessed to something horrible.

"I hurt some people," he said. Inside his pocket was the ghastly proof of his statement. But there was more to Wayne Adam Ford than the trail of mangled victims he left behind. More, even, than the twisted predator inside, which drove him to increasingly perverse sexual appetites.

Pulitzer-nominated author Caitlin Rother draws on previously sealed testimony, interviews with the key players in the case, and the killer's shocking confession to explore the demons that drove a damaged man to his unspeakable crimes. Her book is a haunting, unforgettable true-life thriller.

A very interesting background into a serial killer…….we are so taken in with what the media wish to portray but this throughly explored the man behind the murders.
Agree, appalling narration, did consider not bothering with it initially but glad I saw it through to the end.

Fascinating insight

Enjoyed the narrator, really liked how the story started and then went back over the life and background of the killer

This is a very interesting book but the narrator is terrible, I almost gave up on it. It is a shame because the content is well researched and well put together.

If it has been well narrated I would have given it 5 stars all round. Worth a listen if you can get beyond the flat and characterless voice. Or pick up a paper copy.

Interesting book but appalling narration

The narrator is brutal, this would have gotten 5 stars and an excellent review from me but I couldn't get past the awful narration. Sometimes it sounded like a computer was reading parts, very stilted in other areas. The author deserved better as they put a tremendous effort into the writing. Well researched too.
