About this listen

In a world saturated with visual media, where magazines, commercials, and the vast expanse of the internet expose us to countless images, the insidious influence of filters and photoshop perpetuates an artificial standard that eludes easy detection. Consequently, our minds unknowingly assume these images are authentic, perpetuating a destructive cycle that erodes self-worth and engulfs us in self-loathing.

The prevalence of body image issues affects as much as 50 percent of the population due to the immense societal emphasis placed on physical appearance. Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), estimated to affect between 1.4 to 2.4 percent of the global population, leaves numerous individuals undiagnosed, grappling with the distressing burden as they navigate their lives.

This audiobook is specifically crafted for those who suspect they need guidance but are uncertain about the next steps to take. Addressing a sensitive subject rarely discussed in social circles, the book aims to empower listeners to help themselves and, if necessary, seek professional assistance. It delves into the impact of the disorder on daily life and the lives of those around us, providing insights into the brain's role in contributing to the issue. By embarking on a journey of holistic living, listeners will discover the transformative power of embracing authenticity, love, and acceptance, cultivating a more fulfilling and harmonious existence.

Rather than solely fixating on external appearances, holistic healing encompasses all dimensions of life, recognizing that genuine happiness arises from the harmonious interplay of these aspects. Drawing from the author's personal experiences, listeners explore the transformative potential of self-love, self-compassion, and a sense of self-worth. By adopting a mindset rooted in love and acceptance, they learn to reside in the present moment, fostering healthier thoughts and actions that pave the way to inner peace. The book also includes valuable self-assessment questionnaires, providing listening with meaningful insights to navigate their individual journeys, gain clarity, and chart a path towards self-compassion, acceptance, and personal growth.

Authored with a heartfelt desire for listeners to embark on their inner healing process, this audiobook serves as a transformative guide to self-discovery, unlocking the power of self-compassion and acceptance in the face of life's challenges. Moreover, it serves as a gateway to mindful living and holistic healing, offering the key to unlock a life imbued with love, joy, and purpose.

The time for action is now. Stand against negative thoughts and embrace the journey of self-love and acceptance. By listening to this audiobook, you have already taken a significant step on your healing path, and I commend you for your commitment to healing and living the life you deserve. I invite you to delve into Body Dysmorphia: The Holistic Approach to Take Control of Your Obsessive Negative Thoughts, Stop Comparing, and Learn to Love Your Appearance.

I am a sufferer of body dysmorphia. I didn't really hear of the term, or know anything about it, until I saw a Facebook post from a guy talking about how he suffers from the disorder. I realized in that moment that there was a term for the way I felt about my body. I have a muscular build, but I am relentlessly disappointed with my stomach. My wife would get irritated with me because I was constantly looking at my stomach in mirrors. Not just mirrors actually. Window reflection too. Any chance that I could get to suck in my stomach and look at it. I even became abusive to myself and would punch myself in the stomach, as if that was melting the fat away and tightening my abs.

I was very excited to listen to "Body Dysmorphia: The Holistic Approach to Take Control of Your Obsessive Negative Thoughts, Stop Comparing, and Learn to Love Your Appearance" by Caldwell Ramsey. I will admit that it has already made a huge difference in controlling my negative thoughts and trying to accept appearance more. If you are like me, you will love Chapter 3 that covers setting yourself up for success. All BDD sufferers, please do not hesitate to listen to this audiobook immediately.

This book is packed full of resources that will get anyone started on their path to recovering from BDD. Rather than just being informational, this book includes several quizzes and exercises to force self-reflection. This self-awareness is where the healing can start to happen. I loved that this book provided many different forms of alternative therapies a person can try, such as breathwork, reiki, and EFT tapping (a great one). It also encourages you think consider small lifestyle changes you can take to avoid triggering yourself. You will walk away from listening to this book feeling empowered to take your circumstances into your own hands.
