Summary

The price of normalcy

Hoping to cure his curse and return to his fiancée, Jason Wolfe agrees to command a corporate monster-hunting unit. But the team isn’t exactly what he had in mind....

A priest, a ninja, a zombie, and a guy who looks like he should be working crew on the carny circuit. To be fair, not all of Jason’s new charges are keen on being trained by a werewolf.

But ready or not, the team has just been called to a job. Something is snatching children from a small town in southern Mexico. Worse, all signs point to vampires - and a darker, more malevolent force.

As evil grips the vulnerable town, Jason’s ability to lead and his Blue Wolf’s instincts to protect will be challenged like never before, especially as trouble looms back home.

Can he rally his misfit crew before the evil claims them? Or will his team’s first mission be its last?

Very Good

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, and this one is just as good. Well written and likable characters with great narration.

Book 2 is even better than the first! Loved it!

In the second book, Captain Wolfe gets a new team, sort of a mix of misfits that at first glance seem there's no way they can work well together. Each have special supernatural abilities that you learn more and more about as the story is told. As he molds them into a cohesive team (or at least tries to mold them) they're called out into a monster hunting mission long before they're ready to work as a team.

Most of the story is their first mission together to rescue children disappearing in a remote town in Mexico, i won't give away details, but it's for supernatural reasons as well.

The characters were believable, the character development is very good and sets up nicely for a long series. The performance by James Cronin was really good, did a great job with so many voices including a bunch of people with various mexican accents.

I think this book is a little better than the first and i'm looking forward to #3. I also need to go check out Professor Croft stories, i wish Wolfe and Croft we're a team :)

it's good just dont think too hard

The overall story is nice, but the whole werewolf commando thing falls apart sometimes. Jason is so arrogantly ignorant sometimes, especially in the beginning. This mans is a giant blue wolf transformed by an old god, and has personally met wizards, but when someone is introduced as a priest or a ninja he scoffs like they couldn't possibly exist. Another factor is just how frustrating fights are in these. Jason is a spec ops werewolf, but he gets stomped by some no name vampires? I understand needing to power check the MC but special forces trains in hand to hand and even saying technique doesn't translate to his new body, principle still does. Hes not supposed to be a normal werewolf either, isnt this the champion of a god? He threw a dragon around last book, but he has to wrestle his arm away from what turned out to be just vampire goons? I know my header is dont think about it, this is why. If you think about some of the things they can get frustrating. this is still a great story to listen to, but it's got its issues in there. I also wish there was a bit more depth to his character than commander and wants to not be a werewolf. he rarely jokes and when he does it's really stale humor. That one might actually turn people away since half the fun of contemporary fantasy is the fun characters and their adaptations into the modern world. I do like James Patrick Cronin as the narrator though. TLDR it's good but it's not a masterpiece.

A fantasy tale cast in modern-day time.

Well written and narrated Audible book book one was also very good. I fact because of these two Audible books, I now have all four releases.
Brad Magnarella has done outstanding job with this series and choosing James Patrick Cronin as narrator was perfect.

Just as good if not better than the first.

I could not stop listening to this. I was drawn in immediately by the reader. I'm so happy James had done this one as well. The Blue Wolf series is quickly becoming my new favorite.

Captain Wolfe & His New Team Face an Evil Threat

This is the second book in a new series of the Blue Wolf by author Brad Magnarella. After the introduction in the first book, Captain Jason Wolfe becomes the head of a new team in Blue Shadow. This series is set in the same universe as Professor Croft, and he does make an appearance in this chapter. A group of what seems like misfits is called to aid in the disappearance of children in a quaint Mexican village. As is a hallmark of his books, the stories are about real people trying to do the right thing in unusual situations. While there is a magical element, this book feels grounded in reality and it is a rip roaring ride. Captain Wolfe is an honest, principled hero and the other members of his team are remarkable people who have suffered in some way. Everyone is getting to know each other and not entirely comfortable or trusting just yet, but they will be. This is an action packed, thrill ride with many twists and turns along the way. Unlike many other books in a similar vein, Mr. Magnarella's books are always about hope, even when faced with pure evil. Looking forward to the next series, even though I really love Professor Croft.

Victoria Palmer's Review

Another stellar story and performance by Brad Magnarella and James Patrick Cronin. Don't miss it. I am a big fan of Prof. Croft and Jason Wolf has quickly become a favorite. Without giving spoilers, our hero, Jason Wolf is facing perhaps his biggest challenge yet, backed only by a misfit ragtag team, one of whom may not be an ally. their mission: finding why children have gone missing in El Rosario, and where. Part of the answer lies with a group of powerful otherworldly creatures disguised as clowns. Will Jason and his team did over the answers in time to save the children and destroy the evil power behind it all, or be destroyed themselves? listen and find out.
