Michael comes across as a likeable, down to earth bloke who you’d love to have a chat with. He’s obviously done loads of films, and his fame is legendary. He’s not let this go to his head though and has time for everyone. He also has some classic life advice in this book. My favourite is that everything you do is an audition. Who knows who may see you when your shopping or just going for a walk. The next boss, love interest or new best friend. Lets all be more Michael. Live for today, find something you like to do and never stop. I toast you Mr Caine and thank you for this book.

Great book by a great geezer

An enjoyable rags to riches film biography
packed full of amusing anecdotes delivered in the inimitable Caine Style - actually inimitable is the wrong word as there have been so many imitations of the man. Caine shares his thoughts on his own stoic life philosophy as well as sharing interactions with the stars. He is generous in lots of ways freely sharing his amazing experiences and his invaluable advice. by the end of the book I became so fond of him that I wanted to go and have a pint with him! 🤣 If there were any bugbears and there weren't many at all - it would be that I would love to know more about his out of work actor days with Terence Stamp and what might have led to his falling out and also there is no mention of the part Wolf Mankowitz played in his discovery. It was the screenwriter/producer Wolf who recommended him to Harry Saltzman for the Ipcress File - as he was the producer on the touring 'The Long the Sort and the Tall' . I am also aware that one can't be completely honest about everything while people are still alive
I now want to go and find Michael's chill out compilation 'Caine'
