Summary

Brand new horror fantasy novel from best-selling author Iain Rob Wright.

An Irishman walks into a bar...

This isn't the first time Lucas Fergus has woken up next to the bins outside a bar, but it is the first time he's done so with no memory of the days before. Something bad has happened, but he has no idea what. And things keep getting worse. Is he finally paying the price for the things he's done during his long and debauched life?

With a sudden and unexpected change coming over him, Lucas finds himself trapped inside an old english pub with a group of people he doesn't much like. Someone is toying with him it seems; someone that has been holding a grudge for a very long time.

But messing with Lucas is a bad idea, for there is more to him than meets the eye. Soon there will be Hell to pay.

A fantasy horror novel with hearty doses of mystery and humour.

Brilliant!

Loved this book when I first read it and even more so now with the Audible version. The voice acting is top notch and really captures the West Midlands dialect and tone! Fantastic work by the voice actor! I hope they use him for the future books when they appear. Talking of which MORE PLEASE IAIN! Highly recommended all round!

Loved it!

In Blood on the Bar~we are reunited with a familiar character from The Final Winter. This book is epic in a biblical sense (once you listen you will get it lol). As usual the narrator drew me into the story with his excellent character development. He has a talent of capturing the essence of a character and portraying it. The storyline was enjoyable and quite addictive. I needed to know what would happen next and I can only hope that there is a follow up book.

Blinking Brilliant

Another blinking brilliant novel by Mr Wright. Again, like all of his novels, so original, with the odd twist of British humour. making me smile whilst scaring me at the same time. He has a refreshing stance on modern day horror which totally engulfs me. The narration is equally fantastic, totally blows me away how one person can deliver so many different characters. I highly recommend this audio book. You won't be disappointed.

Genre-bending good vs evil

I picked this up on a whim, having never read any by Iain Rob Wright, but having previously enjoyed Aubrey Parsons' narrations. I wasn't quite prepared for the fantastical romp that played out - something like a cross between Luther & The Cabin In The Woods. Great ideas, great writing and brilliant narration. I'll be looking out for more from both of them!

Well paced and fun ride

The book links to Ian Rob wright's books but can easily be read stand alone. The book follows the adventures of 1 man (who has a history) and how he is trapped in a pub which isn't what it seems. It is well paced, really good fun, clever and I really enjoyed it

Very Original & Top Class.

Firstly, it might be difficult to describe the genre that this entertaining story fits best in. Is it fantasy, horror or even thriller? For me there are elements of all three. It’s a very interesting look at Christianity with a clever twist on the who’s good and who’s bad theme. Iain Rob Wright is widely, and quite rightly, regarded as a master of the horror genre and his wonderful writing style is on show here as he leads us into this world of angels, demons and the devil himself. A great read and immensely entertaining story that flies by with each scene leading quickly to the next. There’s everything in this one from demons and monsters to humour and even a good dose of gore. Great fun and cleverly written, recommended. Aubrey Parsons’ reading of the book only adds to it, taking it to an even higher level. His command of accents is particularly useful given the many dialects of the characters involved. He brings life to the action and tension to the drama with a first class performance. Great work from both author and narrator.

I wish I hadn't waited so long!

I've had Blood on the Bar in my Audible library for months, and I regret not listening sooner. The story is gorgeously narrated and fantastically written. Wright throws twists into his writing more comfortably than a teenager makes pretzels at the mall. Loved it. Can't wait for book 2.

Not quite what I was expecting

Not quite what I was expecting but thoroughly enjoyable despite that. I thought it was a horror novel, but it's more of an urban fantasy about good vs evil. Devil turned good guy etc. It's a long story, longer than you would expect to fit into just under 8 hours, you keep thinking it's all over but then ... NO, it just carries on, it did end eventually though, sadly. Lucas is hilarious, although I couldn't help comparing him to Lucifer from the show of the same name. The rest of the team are a rather entertaining bunch too, I recommend that you buy this book and find out all about them. The narration is fantastic on this one, although Lucas's accent change threw me at first, it is apparently intentional. I received a free copy of this title, at my own request, and voluntarily leave this review.

Another good one

Another exciting and suspenseful novel from Wright. This time we’ve got a story about the Devil himself hanging out in a pub and getting his drinking mates into a hellish (sorry) situation. I’ll save the plot to avoid spoilers but believe me there’s some cool and Interesting stuff here that is a bit different than the authors other work. If you love horror you can’t go wrong with Wrights books. Aubrey parsons once again does a great job of narrating this one. His pace is quick and his voices are distinct. I’ll listen to anything he narrates in the future. I recommend the audio for sure if you like your stories that way.
