Wow

I’m beginning to think Laura Greenwood is like a witch or something. Somehow she manages to give time and time again an action packed story that doesn’t feel rushed with good character development in a book that you can listen to over the afternoon.

I absolutely loved this one so much and this book has convinced me I need the rest of the series as this was just so good

Great Stand Alone Short

I received a free audio copy of this book directly from the author for an honest review.

Having not read any of paranormal council books this is a great stand alone short to get you itching to want more. I definitely think I’ll be indulging in future to get another one as world building and brief glimpses into characters I hope you see in other books. Tabitha is a necromancer who veers on the side of good but that’s not always possible. Love that Rick her love interest is almost a polar opposite of her and although this is a romance it doesn’t overtake the overall magic, suspense and plot of the main story line.

Just wanted it to last longer!

Great PNR

I was given this book free for an honest review.

Tabitha isn’t your normal necromancer and after an exchange of black market magic goes wrong she’s forced to work with the high council . When Tabitha finds what she is looking for it brings her sadness that she has to decide what side she’s own at the sake of her family but she knows she has to do the right thing.
Great story although it’s only just over 3 hours nothing is left out or rushed. Jess Combs is perfect at narrating which made it even more enjoyable.

Paranormal fix

I really enjoyed this audiobook adventure. The tittle fits perfectly. Tabitha is a necromancy and has been set-up for a crime she hasn’t committed. She isn’t like others of her kind.

Rick is a friend who’s trying to help Tabitha but when things become complicated can they become more than neither of them are ready for.

A bond between a vampire and necromancer could be the answer to all of there problems.

This is read well and the story suspense kept me hanging on every word. Great story with a nice underlining romance.

This was a competition win. I would class myself as a Laura Greenwood groupie.

not bad for a short listen

I have to be honest I didn't love it, but I think it was because it was so short, i prefer them to be much longer, but if you like short stories then this was ok. The narrator had a nice voice and read well. audiobook obsessions reviewer

Paranormal Romance

Blood and Deceit by Laura Greenwood is a paranormal romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Jess Combs. This book is a stand-alone that is set in the Paranormal Council Universe.

I just love Laura’s books! They always leave me begging for more. I can’t wait to read more of her books around the Paranormal Council Universe.

Jess did a great job on the narration. I liked that she used different voice/tones for each character. I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.

The Necromancer & The Vampire

This was a great standalone story set in the Paranormal Council Universe! After the necromancer council dissolved, Tabitha is out of a job and desperate for money, but no one will hire a necromancer the legal way. She’s also having trouble finding any information on her brother and the death of her father after her mother’s death. She starts looking for a job and answers in the black market, but finds herself mixed up with a vampire of The High Council, who also happens to be her mate, since the job was a set up and the result of black magic going wrong. What’s the best way to start your life with your fated mate? With lies, deceit, and a hefty price for your head. I enjoyed this new mystery that Laura has created and watching Tabitha and Rick’s relationship grow. This book was filled with romance, mystery, suspense, and great characters within an amazing world!
Jess did an amazing job with this narration! I loved the different voices that she gave each character and the amount of emotion and suspense she put into her performance to bring it to life.

Fast pace & quick listen.

Great fast pace and quick read or listen.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Jess Combs. I increased the pace while listening to a 1.8 speed as that was more to my liking. I thought she was a good voice for Tabitha.
Tabitha is a necromancer who has found herself in a pickle and in walks in Rick, a vampire who we aren’t quite sure if we can trust just yet..before you know it we are in a middle of fights, romance, and more paranormal mystery read. Looking forward for more of this series as I did enjoy Tabitha and Rick.

It’s been a while since I’ve read this series and I forgot how fun it was. Mostly suspense with a hint of romance Blood and Deceit follows Tabitha as she does what she needs to in order to survive while keeping her magic clean and meeting her unlikely mate. Blood and Deceit was a lot of fun and made me want to read the books I’ve missed in this series.

Good

While it personally started out a little rocky, the story is quite good. It's a quick listen and is written well. The narrator is new to me and a little monotone for my tastes but not bad.

Fun story

Tabitha is a necromancer just trying to survive in a world that hates her mistrusts her kind. She has to do some morally questionable things to make money but is careful not to do anything out right illegal. On a job she is trying to collect payment when a vampire named Rick runs into her and drags her away saying it's a trap. Tabitha feels a need to trust him and goes with him but doesn't know what is going on. This is a fast insta mate story with some twists and lies. Tabitha has to figure out who to trust and what she feels is right. I really liked Tabitha and Rick and hope to see more of them in future books this author has. This was a very fun listen and I enjoyed figuring out what was going on. Not everything is as it seems.

Quick Paranormal Read

Tabitha no longer has the protection of her people or the Necromancer Council, causing her to do illegal things to get by. When she goes to her latest assignment, she is stopped by vampire Ricky who says it is a trap. Should Tabitha trust this stranger she finds herself drawn to?

Blood and Deceit felt more like a novella than anything else, the story went so quick at only 3 hours and 20 minutes on audio. I felt like I was dropped into the middle of this super complex world where I only received a few details but I wanted so much more- making me intrigued enough that I would like to read more in this world to see if I can get a complete picture that way.  The plot moved along at a quick pace with a lot of complicated situations thrown in which I appreciated, but I felt like I never really got an opportunity to know the characters as individuals or as a romantic couple. I feel like I needed prequel story or a sequel, with way more detail to get lost in.

The narrator was pretty good, a little slower than I like so I sped the narration speed up to 2x and that made it just about perfect for my reading. She did a great job bringing Tabitha to life, giving her emotions and spunk. I would listen to her narrate again!
