Summary

Life was a whole lot easier back when Joseph was an oblivious idiot.

Up until a few days ago, the worst thing Joseph had to deal with was mopping up vomit in the hospital he works at.

Now he’s discovered that monsters exist, and he’s expected to mop those up, too.

Joseph is a warlock, or so he’s told, yet he can barely pull off a convincing card trick, let alone magic away evil.

Which would be fine if he didn't have to contend with the ghost of a dead sweetheart, debt-settling demons, and murderous standing stones.

Can this clueless warlock be counted on to save the day, or is this a mess he can’t clean up?

Mystery, scares, and fast-paced action collide in this thrilling urban fantasy series. Listen to Blood Stones now for a tale you can't pause.

“Holy buggery, mother of poop”

After enjoying the first book so much, I couldn’t wait to jump into this one. And needless to say, it didn’t disappoint!
Everything that was good about the first book was present here again in spades!
The serious, dark essence mixes with the hopeless, idiocy of the main character perfectly and the plot is just brilliant!
The narrator perfectly pulls off this story as though he really is the characters in the book.
I literally can’t fault it in any way… except it has an end, yeah, that’s bad, as I’d love to keep reading it!
Really looking forward to book 3!
This is my honest opinion on a free review copy.

The best of the Uncanny Kingdom so far

I liked the first installment, but this second is even better. The story continues right from where the last one ended and now we have new characters, a new case to solve. I felt immerse in the story, the action is never ending but pared with a good storyline and a little mystery to keep you yearning. Joseph is such a dork, his dumbness is adorable, such a relatable character. Dave Jones is one of the best British narrators for me, his skills are remarkable.

Magic!

I'm loving this series of books. The story line is gripping and the main characters are funny. I'm also loving the narrators voice he really brings the story to life, still not 100% sure about a talking fox though haha. Thank you for the free code in exchange for a honest review.

Another fantastic chapter in Joshua's story.

Disclaimer: I was provided a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Following my enjoyment of Magic Eater I was very excited to see what would come next after such a shocking revelation at the end of book 1. Book 2, Blood Stones, continues directly on from its predecessor and deals in part with something I've not seen in a series like this before, that being the protagonist coming to terms with what has happened and the guilt it has left them with.

This was a really brave, intelligent move as it has provided a perfect environment for character growth and we do find Joshua struggling with what has happened and how it affects his choices when presented with other people in need. While not as horrific in content this time around, this felt more a tale of character growth and I was engrossed front start to finish but there is still enough excitement to carry the story forward at a brisk pace.

Also, the inclusion of Standing Stones really made me happy as I live on Dartmoor in England and we have 15 complete circles of prehistoric stones and hundreds of individual ones. Standing in a circle of stones, you can't help but feel that there is something of the mystic about them and this is the first time I've seen them included in a book in this way.

Again we have the fabulous narration of Dave Jones who injects real soul into every character and offers perfect delivery of the light-hearted moments that are interspersed throughout the tale, again succeeding in making me laugh aloud on several occasions.

Another fantastic book for me and one I cannot recommend enough. Very excited to experience the rest of Joshua's tale.
