Critic reviews

Harriet Tyce brings a new layer of visceral, addictive dark to domestic noir. Obsession, revenge, lust and murder play out on the pages as a female barrister tries to hold her life together while her personality tries to tear it apart. At once shocking and riveting, I simply couldn't stop reading. Bravo (Sarah Pinborough)
A classy thriller with complex and compelling characters (Clare Mackintosh)
A deeply flawed but relatable heroine who makes the mistakes we all dread making ... I devoured it with white knuckles. Vivid, deft storytelling that holds a knife to your throat all the way through and makes your blood curdle. Coruscating! (Veronica Henry)
So dark and compelling. It deserves to fly off the shelves. (Melanie McGrath)

The story was good, but the last few chapters seemed a little rushed. Books with a twist are great, but this one came out of nowhere with no build up then was done! I though I had missed something when it was over....

Meh!

This book somehow missed the mark for me. It is difficult to pinpoint why. It is a reasonable story. Perhaps it is because there are no average responses or interactions. Every moment, with every character is extreme in some way.

The narration is accurate, and read with appropriate emphasis etc. One star is lost for her only because her voice did not work for me.

It’s good, but not great!

I really enjoyed this book. The narration was great - which can really make or break an audio book. My only slight issue was that I felt like the ending was crammed / rushed into a climax in the last couple of chapters - that there was such a build up only for the ending to feel slightly rushed. However I didn’t want to put this book down, and wanted to know how everything was going to turn out and what was going to happen. Couple of great twists. Deffo worth a listen!

Great book, didn’t want to put it down

it did not like the main character. The plot with the murder case I guessed, however I liked the twist at the end.

ok

The story was quite slow to start with and I almost stopped but the good reviews made me carry on listening. I really didn’t like Alison to start off with, but she grew on me. It was clear that there was going to be a twist, but I had absolutely no idea what it was going to be until it happened and I was quite shocked at what it was!!

Unexpected twist
