Summary

Blane is sick and tired of being everyone’s emotional sounding board. It’s his gift, but they don’t realize how much it hurts him, and how exhausted he is. With the sickness taking over and Sophie’s impending delivery, he knows he’s in for a hell of a ride when she has the baby.

When her water breaks a few weeks early, everyone is in a panic except him. He keeps it together for his queen. At the hospital, when things get too rough, he makes his escape only to run into the one woman he needs - his mate. When he realizes his mate is sick, he is determined to save her, but when she takes his beast, things go from bad to worse. Can he save her before it’s too late, or will she fall for the deception of Summerland?

The plot thickens....

This series is quite interesting. There is a tribe of half breed dragons who has been rejected by the pure breed dragons. Until they find their mate, these half breeds are weak and ill. This is the fifth book in the series, and it is time for Blane to find his mate.

As you can imagine, a paranormal story this short has a pretty standard structure. The couple meet, there is an issue with them coming together that they must resolve, one or both are saved from certain death and then they become an official mated pair. Rather than messing with a working structure, the author, Sarah J. Stone, puts a lot of effort into the details that make each story unique. Firstly the books really function on two levels, the micro-level focusing on the couple and the macro-level focusing on the tribe. The human mate always has some pretty insurmountable personal issues to deal with. In this case it is an aggressive form of cancer. Simultaneously the tribe has to continue to live amicably within Stratham while facing their enemies, led by the dragon council. These are macro-issues that essentially tie the whole series together.

Blane's story is sweet. The alpha female of the tribe is in labour at the hospital when Blane scents his very ill mate. They need to face each other and help each other grow stronger in their bond. Meanwhile, the assassins sent by the council in a precious book continue to target the tribe. At the same time more supernatural creatures are congregating in Stratham, attracted by the tribe's power. Clearly the larger war between good and evil is brewing under the surface.

Blane

A short story, but lots happening. Blane finds his mate, Dallas, then almost lost her. With the nymphs, the witches, the pack of wolf shifters, the rabid dragon shifter assassin out for blood, no wonder the dragon shifter tribe is barely holding on despite most of them finding their mates. The story is a bit scattered, got lost a few times, but I was able to find my way back. Blane and Dallas get their HEA, but did she have to loose her sister? We are left with a few loose ends opening the door for the next stories.

I like listening to Mr. Brown's voices, although I had to replay sections at times because he spoke too fast for my ears.

Short paranormal story

This was my first Sarah J. Stone's book, and this is the book 5 of the Blane Stratham Shifters Series. I haven't listened to the first books in the Series and I feel like I missed something. I really have to listen to the first books in the Series! The story was short, well written and fast-paced, filled with dragons, wolves, witches and nymphs. The narration was well done, maybe a little fast for my understanding, but the narrator has a really great voice. Not for me

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

So, apparently my ADD kicked in, because I totally forgot that I had tried another book from this series and hadn't enjoyed it very much. Otherwise I wouldn't have requested this one. Anyway, the narrator was decent. The story was just...ok. This book seemed to jump around and I felt lost with what was happening in places. With the short running time, I think the author either needs to spend more time securing story threads or be more concise in her story telling. As with the other book I tried from this series, it just doesn't feel finished or focused on what it is about. That's just my opinion, so feel free to take it with a grain of salt.

Blane and Mate

Blane finds his mate Dallas, who arrives in town seeking specialized cancer treatment. Blane takes a break from helping Sophie deliver twins, and meets her in the hospital. His Silver dragon transfers to her the minute they are alone, but Dallas has already been so weakened by her illness, it takes witchy intervention to draw her back from the Summerlands. Meanwhile, Blane becomes the supervisor of their local Stratham witch to create good relations with the Witch Council. More supernaturals are drawn to Stratham by their combined dragon power. Unfortunately, the Dragon Council assassin is still alive and Dallas loses her sister to this threat.

I enjoyed the voice of Connor Brown handling the narration. I’ll have to check out some of his modern romance work.

Who are Blane and Dallas?

I received this audio book in exchange for an honest review.

I have followed in this entire series from the beginning. Over the course of following the halflings and their mates I have come to realize that Sarah J. Stone's transitions are not well done. There were moments within the story where I felt as though she jumps from one instance to another and I have no clue on what happened. I don't remember specifically another book where this has occurred but I did wonder how we got to one scene to another without a clear transition.

I enjoyed Dallas and Blane's love affair. It was super brief and there was not a lot of scenes focused on them. The story focused more on the battle that is upcoming. We got to meet wolves and witches and also the nymphs got some story time as well. I understand that this is a short quick read however I would like to have more time with the couple rather than everyone else. It seems as though everyone who were introduced in previous books had scenes within this book as well.

I don't know if the upcoming books, Jaz, Adrian, and Dixon will have the same issues that the previous books have when it comes to transitions and a lack of couple building. Here is not hoping not because the war seems to be heating up and I don't want to have book whiplash when it comes to these books.

Sweet Heaven!

Blane was my first foray into a dragon shifter world, and I am in awe by its beauty, intensity, and wonder. I was not disappointed in the least, and I hated to see it end. It opened my mind to a new world that caught me completely by surprise and left me wanting so much more. This is a world that I plan to return to very soon. The storyline was mesmerizing and the characters were wonderful!

Watching the story unfold me was a stunning treasure that I cherished and savored. The beautiful characters made me feel everything they felt, and I couldn’t get enough of the brilliance of their journey. Even the dark times brought a beauty of its own to the overarching plot that caught my breath at its depth and creativity.

This is an author that you want to indulge in over and over again. She is a jewel in the paranormal genre, and you do not want to miss out on her unique talent. It will awaken your heart and open your eyes to the things in life that mean the most. Do not let this amazing author slip by because she will rock your world and leave you breathless and changed.

The narration was amazing! I enjoyed every second of the incredible performance. The story took on such a heady meaning as a result, and I drank in every drop. The written word has such a power, but whenever you add the human voice to it, its power becomes boundless.

Empathetic Blane Finds His Mate

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Fifth book and fifth halfling Blane, to find his Mate, Dallas. This is an interesting pairing which moved different,y then the others.
A lot happens in this book and doesn’t only focus on Blane and Dallas, but also on the King and Queen, witches, wolf shifters and revenge and a couple more mating that are going to be very interesting.
Can’t wait for the next book...great narration that adds to the story.
Please keep them coming!
