About this listen

From the New York Times bestselling author of River of Shadows and Black Sunshine comes a new dark gothic romance duet about how love can transcend the ages, but at a deadly cost.

Is it her destiny to love him?

Or is it her destiny to die?

Valtu Aminoff is no stranger to tragedy. Though many know him as the enigmatic vampire that inspired Bram Stoker's Dracula, Valtu's complex life is far more horrific than any fiction could imagine. When you lose the love of your life over and over again, it can do more than break your heart—it can corrupt your soul.

It's up to his new lover to decide if Valtu's damaged soul is even worth saving.

But destiny isn't done with Valtu yet. And tragedy is always around the corner.

Contains mature themes.

The story pulled me in straight away and kept me hooked until the very end. Blood Orange and Black Rose work perfectly together and make the duet complete.

The narrators did a great job bringing the characters to life. It was a little strange at times hearing the male narrator voice the female character, but it never distracted from the story. Overall, this was a fantastic listen and I enjoyed every minute of it.

I absolutely loved The Dracula Duet by Karina Halle.

I really enjoyed this finale, though I can see there maybe another book to deal with Sarah and the other vampires.
Valitu and Rose's end story was very exciting and quite romantic! 🤩

I waited patiently for the audiobook of Black Rose to be released having listened to Blood Orange in audiobook I hoped the wait would be worth it for the sequel and my goodness I was not disappointed!

Everything about this is amazing, the story is wonderfully developed and worked together, despite being quite complex due to the timelines being so vast and all over the place. The characters are well rounded and I get a real sense of the main characters personalities and not just the main ones the supporting roles feel well considered as well, I can clearly imagine these characters and how they might react in certain situations. Thats a clear sign of good writing and character development.

My only criticism is that whilst the story is beautifully developed and handled, it does in places feel somewhat rushed. I think time could have been taken to thoroughly explore the story properly, but in parts it jumps quickly, too quickly to another thread and you find yourself wondering why certain parts were squeezed in, when suddenly the issues resolved and boom we’ve moved to another drama filled incident!

Having said that, it’s forgiven easily because I just love the whole thing. And listening to it made it come alive, the voice actors are amazing. They have done an excellent job, especially the actor responsible for Valtu, he is just wow, his voice/accent was just so perfect for the character. I will never be able to hear Valtu with any other voice!

I am so, so sad it is over and I know I will read both books again, picking up on bits I missed first time round, but for now I’m a bit lost because I’ve finished it and I know there are no more coming! This is one of those books that leaves you feeling a bit empty, because it was so good!

I am definitely going to buy hard copies of both books and add them to my library (full of books I’ve read and loved but in perfect unread condition), only the best books get a space on my shelves!

Stop thinking about it and read it, if you’ve read Blood Orange you have to read this book, for obvious reasons, if you’re new to the books just dive straight in, you will not regret it, but be prepared to get a little obsessed with a very old Vampire with more than a few kinks!

Which reminds me this book, like Blood Orange, is a little bit spicy. Enjoy, I know I did!!!
