Story
Dublin, Ireland and Richmond, Virginia: separated by thousands of miles - linked by murder. Five dismembered, beheaded bodies were found in Ireland five years ago - now four have been discovered in the States. But the tenth corpse in Virginia is different. A copy-cat killing. Ghoulish, perhaps, but not unusual. Then abject terror grips Scarpetta and her colleagues when the next body is found with a clear and horrifying message: the killer is armed with the most lethal weapon on earth - smallpox.

Story
Vain and charismatic Walter Sickert made a name for himself as a painter in Victorian London. But the ghoulish nature of his art - as well as extensive evidence - points to another name, one that's left its bloody mark on the pages of history: Jack the Ripper. Cornwell has collected never-before-seen archival material - including a rare mortuary photo, personal correspondence and a will with a mysterious autopsy clause - and applied cutting-edge forensic science to open an old crime to new scrutiny.

Watch you back Dr Scarpetta!
This book sees Kay's world rocked and not in a nice way. It all starts badly when Senator Lord bring her a letter which Benton's asked to be delivered 1 year following his death. This devastates Kay and leaves her vulnerable to those closest to her.
There is a new chief of Police in town and her name is Diane Bray. Whilst stunning to look at she has the charm of a snake and the manner of an alley cat. She is out to destroy all that Kay holds dear, starting with moving Marino and undermining what happens in the lab at any given opportunity.

Not the best Scarpetta novel but decent. 7/10
Narrator Lorelei King is brilliant. Story is ok.... felt the character of Bray and Anderson could have been developed over another novel or two. Still a gripping story. Still think Scarpetta comes across too weak at times for someone capable of doing her job.
