About this listen

Pop-culture phenomenon, social rights advocate, and the most prominent LGBTQ+ voice on YouTube, Tyler Oakley brings you Binge, his New York Times bestselling collection of witty, personal, and hilarious essays.

For someone who made a career out of over-sharing on the Internet, Tyler has a shocking number of personal mishaps and shenanigans to reveal in his first book: experiencing a legitimate rage blackout in a Cheesecake Factory; negotiating a tense standoff with a White House official; crashing a car in front of his entire high school, in an Arby’s uniform; projectile vomiting while bartering with a grandmother; and so much more. In Binge, Tyler delivers his best untold, hilariously side-splitting moments with the trademark flair that made him a star.

I love this entire book, I bought the physical copy, and listened whilst reading along, tyler is so amazing and so inspirational and i cant believe how amazing it is to feel like he's a real person and that he has bad days too and hasn't had this easy life of success, i feel that because we always see youtubers doing great things we really forget that it isnt always like this! They have down time and hook up with random guys on grinder and stuff. I am LIVING for this book, well done T-swiZZLE

It was a Guardian review of YouTuber books that made me interested in Tyler Oakley's memoirs, even though I didn't follow him that closely on YouTube. The review described it as a 'story that needed to be told', and listening to the audiobook, I agreed by that statement tenfold. Not only were his stories interesting, engaging and unapologetically candid, Tyler has an irresistibly entertaining voice that piques your interest. His intonation is rarely flat as he takes you on a magical bouncy castle ride with his voice, and he delivers his funniest, most horrific, and most emotionally raw stories all with a great understanding of drama and pacing, to achieve the optimum effect. The occasional self-aware giggle at his own expense also added to the authentic feel when regaling the reader with his stories. I was entertained the whole way through, and listened to the whole thing in one go. Tyler is an undeniably talented storyteller.
