About this listen

Originally published as Little Lies.

Pirriwee Public is a beautiful little beachside primary school where children are taught that ‘sharing is caring'. So how has the annual School Trivia Night ended in full-blown riot? Sirens are wailing. People are screaming. The principal is mortified.

And one parent is dead.

Was it a murder, a tragic accident, or just good parents gone bad? As the parents at Pirriwee Public are about to discover, sometimes it’s the little lies that turn out to be the most lethal. Little Lies is a brilliant take on ex-husbands and second wives, mothers and daughters, school-yard scandal, and the dangerous little lies we tell ourselves just to survive.

Would you listen to Little Lies again? Why?

Probably not, not because I didn't enjoy it but because I would know the ending. I would listen to other Lianne Moriarty stories though. The narrator was very good.

What did you like best about this story?

The way the various characters stories linked together to move it forward. Also the way the main contributing characters were developed so that I wanted to know what happened to them.

Which character – as performed by Caroline Lee – was your favourite?

Madelaine

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Lots of characters build to tell the story

Excellent

I bought this because it was in the 2 for 1 sale and had great reviews, but I started off sceptical thinking it was going to feel unoriginal. But by the second chapter the characters had all surprised me and from then on I couldn't put it down. The characters are all so well formed, I felt like I was listening to a story about friends, and the little mysteries and short chapters are all a recipe for binge listening. The narrator was great too and I felt she really captured all the main characters including the children (but I was particularly fond of her Madeleine). Would highly recommend.

Gripping

The tension mounts as we discover what led to the police investigation. Written in a back to front way this is so clever and the characters are all really well drawn and entirely believable. I couldn't stop listening. Great twist, never saw it coming. Moriarty is a superb story teller and the narrator is spot on. Highly recommended
