Story
There is a persistent and incorrect idea, reinforced by countless film misrepresentations, that Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson were always staid and dull British chaps of middle years (or older), with Holmes a spry, cranky, and impatient eccentric, and Watson a white-haired and portly Boobus Brittanicus, a la Nigel Bruce. Students of the true and Canonical Sherlock Holmes know this to be a falsehood.

Story
When David Innes and his inventor friend pierced the crust of the Earth in their new burrowing device, they broke out into a strange new inner world of eternal daylight - a world in back of the Stone Age, where prehistoric monsters still lived, and cave men and women battled against cruel, inhuman masters. The story of what these two men did in that new world of Pellucidar makes At the Earth's Core one of Burrough's most outstanding best sellers.

Enjoyable tales
This anthology is of reasonably good quality and introduces some interesting viewpoints that aren’t seen in the canonical tales. Some are sublime, others are implausible, and the rest are serviceable.
The narrator’s performance mars some of the quality with American accents sounding more like Joe Pesci than anything else and a number of mispronounced words or repeated sentences that should have been caught during production (the most egregious of these is in an early tale where a perambulation is pronounced as prerambulation).
