Whether we grew up in the repressive purity culture of American Evangelical Christianity or not, we've all been taught in subtle and not-so-subtle ways that sex (outside of very specific contexts) is immoral and taboo. Having grown up with a fair bit of Catholic shame around sex, this book has helped me unpick the anatomy of shame, the usual defense mechanisms that keep us stuck in shame and the wonderful ways to reframe our experience so we don't feel so much internal conflict.
