Detailed recollections that must’ve been difficult for the author to bring together. He tells of curiosity and determination for Oxford a highly unlikely route for an northern boy with no secondary school education. Then he travels his loves his reckless antics, his loves and his boy. This is a beautifully written book and I would highly recommend.

Absolutely brilliant books, brilliantly read, the second book is as equally as good as the first, my favorite author and Sam Wood does it justice, I cant recommend it highly enough

An enthralling and complelling listen. About a young 16 year old who abandons the North where there is no work on the off chance he may get a job in a foundry in London and his stuggle to survive poverty and how he manges to educate himself and enter Oxford university. Read extremely well by Sam Kelly. Descriptive language is good. I can thoroughly recommend this audio book.
