About this listen

The second volume of Woodruff's memoirs begins with him arriving in Poplar in the early 1930s. Luckily he gets a job at a steel foundry, and lives with an old couple in Bow. It also covers his winning of a place at Oxford and his part in the war effort.©2008 William Woodruff (P)2014 Audible, Inc. War

Absolutely brilliant books, brilliantly read, the second book is as equally as good as the first, my favorite author and Sam Wood does it justice, I cant recommend it highly enough

An enthralling and complelling listen. About a young 16 year old who abandons the North where there is no work on the off chance he may get a job in a foundry in London and his stuggle to survive poverty and how he manges to educate himself and enter Oxford university. Read extremely well by Sam Kelly. Descriptive language is good. I can thoroughly recommend this audio book.

Having read The Road To Nab End, I really wanted to know more about William. What a wonderful, often tragic, emotional and unabashed honest account he gave. I couldn't put it down.
