Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

This Penguin Classic is performed by Leighton Pugh, known for his various roles at the National Theatre. This definitive recording includes an introduction by Michael Tanner.

Beyond Good and Evil confirmed Nietzsche's position as the towering European philosopher of his age. The work dramatically rejects traditional Western thought with its notions of truth and God, good and evil. Nietzsche seeks to demonstrate that the Christian world is steeped in a false piety and infected with a 'slave morality'.

With wit and energy, he turns from this critique to a philosophy that celebrates the present and demands that the individual impose their own 'will to power' upon the world.

Translated by R. J. Hollingdale. With an Introduction by Michael Tanner.

Blew me away

What a great reading of this book, i have read some of Nietzsche before and it is hard going, the narrator brings this work to life with much vigor! I will listen to this again and again as it is the best way to get the most out of this work.

best nietzsche translation on audible

if you're going to listen to a book by nietsche on audible, this is the only one you can get that's a contemporary translation. others, like ukemi audiobooks, are public domain translations. penguin classic translations are more authoritative. unfortunately, the number of translated penguin classic books on audible are very limited. this is a great book. but i wish "the joyous sciece" and others like "the twilight of the idols and the anti-christ" were also available. among other non-english language philosophy.
