About this listen

Beneath the Skin is a gripping psychological thriller by the Top Ten best-selling author, Nicci French.

Zoe, Jennifer and Nadia are three women with nothing in common. Except for the man who wants to kill them. He sends them terrifying letters, full of the intimate details of their lives - and promises that he will bring those lives to a violent, horrible end. But not before he has enjoyed himself.

Invisible and apparently unstoppable, he delights in watching the women suffer, thrilled by his power to leave them utterly helpless, alone in their terror and confusion. Except they're not all as helpless as he thinks . . .

This book focuses on the theoretical (no spoilers) victim(s), giving voice to the women harassed by a madman. Wonderful to hear about their lives, thoughts and fears rather than the stalker. Works really well.

Would have given this five stars except for slightly disappointing plot twist at the end. But overall absolutely excellent.

I loved Nicci French’s weekday series, and this is just as good.

Engaging plot told from victim’s perspective

Great book

Complicated entwined tale. Well thought out and explained. The narration was superb, made the story come to life

The narration was fabulous.

Enjoyed this - told from the victims' point of view in 3 separate but linked stories. Narration was good with decent accents so it was always clear who was "speaking".
I was a bit disappointed with the ending - if kind of fizzled out with a pop rather than a bang - there were 12 minutes left of the audiobook and I had my fingers crossed for a final twist - but instead got an oh-well-there-you-go narrative from one of the main female characters.
Would recommend though aside from that.

Decent thriller

When this started I felt like I didn’t know what was happening or where it was going, the seemingly unrelated stories were a bit confusing to start with, but all becomes clear after a bit. It’s an unusual murder/mystery that doesn’t follow the normal format which is very refreshing- definitely worth a listen.

Really enjoyed in the end
