Summary
Charmingly and joyfully read by the author, Henry Winkler.
The instant New York Times bestseller.
Winner of 'Humour' – Goodreads Choice Awards, Best Books of 2023.
Henry Winkler, launched into prominence by his role as 'The Fonz' in the beloved Happy Days, has transcended the role that made him who he is.
Brilliant, funny, and widely-regarded as the nicest man in Hollywood (though he would be the first to tell you that it’s simply not the case, he’s really just grateful to be here), Henry shares in this achingly vulnerable memoir the disheartening truth of his childhood, the difficulties of a life with severe dyslexia, the pressures of a role that takes on a life of its own, and the path forward once your wildest dream seems behind you.
Since the glorious era of Happy Days fame, Henry has endeared himself to a new generation with roles in such adored shows as Arrested Development, Parks and Recreation, and Barry, where he’s revealed himself as an actor with immense depth and pathos, a departure from the period of his life when he was so distinctly typecast as 'The Fonz', he could hardly find work.
Filled with profound heart, charm, and self-deprecating humor, Being Henry is a memoir about so much more than a life in Hollywood and the curse of stardom. It is a meaningful testament to the power of sharing truth and kindness and of finding fulfillment within yourself.

Wonderfully read
With most autobiography’s it’s clearly being read to you, often poorly, however, this is the first one where I felt the author was actually telling me these stories, from memory. It was a wonderful listen.

Such a lovely book
I really enjoyed listening to this beautifully written memoire. It's a happy and sad story at the same time but, the way Henry Winkler reads it makes it a very enjoyable experience.

Nuanced and personal insight in Henry
I loved listening to Henry Winkler. Like many I got to know him as the Fonz in the mid seventies. Ams always had a weakness for him. Having listened to him in many interviews, this book definitely added to what I knew.
He's honest about others but more importantly he's honest with himself. Which means that he will never describe a situation without considering his own part in it. Whether it's a professional situation or a private one.
He even takes it a step further by including his wife Stacey's view on him (you'll hear her talk).
It felt like having a wonderful heart to heart with a friend who shares the ups and downs in his life, his questions and answers, his hopes and fears.

A Brilliant autobiography of Henry Winkler who turns out to be better than his most famous creation The Fonz!

Sounds like a genuinely nice guy!
Having always watched Happy Days I didn't really know anything more about Henry than we saw him as the Fonz and there is so much more to his story.
Thoroughly enjoyed reading about his life.

So honest and interesting
I loved Henry since he was the Fonz when I was little. I was delighted to see him in Scream and Barry. In the part he was born to play.
His book is an interesting listen. And it is superb he reads it and I don't know how with his dyslexia so fair play to him. A superstar through and through. Recommend!!

Endearing, engaging, entertaining
Who knew Henry Winkler is so good with accents and impersonations, one of the many enjoyable things about this biography. Some parts were so good I relistened before moving on. Despite his fame there is a lot here that is about life, love and loss that affects everyone.
