Two sisters haunted by tragedy. Love can save them—if the past doesn’t destroy them first.
Eight years after tragedy shattered their family, the McKenna sisters are still broken. Responsible Lyra hides her past - and her heart - behind her camera lens, while reckless Lux escapes into a world of pills, parties, and dangerous boys. Anything to forget the darkness trapped inside her own head.
When their father suffers a massive heart attack, Lyra is compelled to return to a house haunted by resentment, secrets, and lies. Coming home also means facing her former crush—handsome, charming Ethan, now a single father. Lyra glimpses a future that includes a love she never expected, or believed she deserved.
But how can she open her heart to new love when the past won't let either sister go?
As devastating secrets resurface, Lux spirals dangerously out of control. To save her sister, Lyra must risk everything to confront the truth of what really happened that night, but the truth might break her, too.
From USA Today Bestselling Author Kyla Stone comes a vivid, poignant novel exploring secrets, sisterhood, young love, and the power of the past to heal or destroy us. Perfect for fans of John Green and Colleen Hoover.
*Note: This novel deals with themes of suicide, mental illness, and drug abuse. Recommended for 16+*
©2017 Kyla Stone (P)2025 Kyla StoneHonestly, the highlight of this book for me was the audiobook narration. Jaime Lamchick gives a stellar performance that brings the story to life, particularly when the pacing becomes somewhat slow at times. She gives both Lyra and Lux distinctive voices—you almost forget they’re being narrated by the same voice actor.
I haven’t read Stone’s apocalyptic thrillers, but based on the contemporary novels I’ve read, she’s clearly a strong writer who handles difficult themes and complicated family dynamics well.
