About this listen

Bathsheba is taken against her will by the most powerful man in Israel. A month later, she discovers she carries the evidence of their secret, dangerous encounter. With her husband at war, this pregnancy could mean her death or untold greatness. When the king finds out that she is with child, he immediately summons her husband home from war, a cunning plan in mind.

Will the king's plan work?

Will her life be spared?

Will there be any consequences for the injustice?

Will love grow in the middle of pain and give birth to second chances?

This novel is a fictional retelling of one of the greatest Bible stories of all time. This is a story of injustice, betrayal, deception, heartbreak, forgiveness, love, redemption, and second chances. It reminds us that there are consequences for our choices, and we serve a God of justice. He can use the tragedies in our lives and turn them into purpose.

No pain is ever wasted with God.

I love Amanda Bedzrah's writing for many reasons. The main one is her ability to take the reader there! Heart thumping, mind racing, eyes darting even, along with the characters! I enjoyed every minute.

It is a story about the ripple effects of our choices and their consequences. It is a story about second chances. It is uplifting.

The gems are not only on the crown, on the front cover. There are precious pearls of wisdom skillfully woven through every chapter! I loved it!

Hard to hit pause. A must read!

I know the author and sometimes, that's not always a good thing - you read the book as an obligation.
I am soooooo glad I "obliged".... I couldn't put it down. I finished it in one day, despite having a pile of work to attend to.
The story is engaging and beautifully written. You can tell the background story was well researched, the lessons are potent and kudos for the captivating way it was read.
I highly recommend this!

The plot moves quickly with just the right balance of description. I started the audiobook on Friday and finished by Saturday night—not because it was short, but because it was so captivating that I didn’t want to stop listening. Hearing Bathsheba’s story in first person brings a closeness that touches the heart.

This is a beautifully and tastefully written book, giving a female perspective on the patriarchal culture of the Old Testament. I strongly recommend it to women, especially Christian women. In short—wow! I wish there was part II!
