Waking a monster from its sleep is never a good idea.

Skye Carter is as normal as normal can be. But when she chances upon a man in the basement of an abandoned Hollywood Hills house, she's suddenly playing tour guide, and introducing a 1,500-year-old vampire to this century. And who even knows what’s going on with her teeth.

The truth is, immortality can get old—which is why Lucas Thorne went to sleep for 70 years. But he’s back and ready to take on undead enemies and friends alike. In a world where threatening creatures roam the night streets, he's the most dangerous of them all.

I enjoyed listening to this fun Vampire story. It starts with Sky being turned into a Vampire by Lucas when she accidentally wakes him up from a 70 year snooze. His reappearance in the Vampire world causes some problems, not least because he seems to be a bit attached to his newborn, and other vampires keep trying to kill her! It’s quite a short book, it’s light, fun, with limited drama. There are various escapades and “battles”, but it does have a HEA. If you want something not too taxing but entertaining then this a good option.

Andi Arndt does an excellent job as always.

The voice acting was well done. The worldbuilding was well done. The comic relief side characters were funny. But, the main characters are more or less two dimensional due to the rushed plot and the plot armour that surrounded them both. The conclusion was hasty and anti-climactic, sort of an afterthought. Okay listen, simply wish the execution was better thought out as the underlying ideas were good.

Good worldbuilding, rushed plot
