Two broken boys. One dorm room. Can they help each other heal, or will they stay forever fractured?
Ever have someone get you so well that it's like looking in a mirror? That's what I think of when I look at Liam. I might as well be looking at myself from a few months ago. Broken and jaded.
But I've come out the other side, mostly, and I'm finally in a good place. I figure if I did it, so can he. So, I make it my mission to befriend him.
Predictably, he doesn't make it easy. But I'm persistent. And then he suffers a minor accident. One that results in me having to give him a helping hand in ways I never expected. Ways that make me think I may not be as broken as I thought.
To say I'm confused is an understatement, but there's one thing I know for certain. Liam is the key to one door and the bolt that could prevent another from ever opening. And I have to choose which I want him to be.
Beautifully Fractured is a high-heat MM romance with medium angst that features a grumpy/sunshine relationship, forced proximity, hurt/comfort situations, and a sexual awakening. This is book one in a series of interconnected standalones. Though the main characters are athletes, sports are not a major plot point in this book, so this isn't considered a sports romance. Rather, it's a romance that happens to feature people who play sports.

I liked that Cruz's axesuality was presented in what felt to be a realistic way!
I was NOT a fan of the constant pressure for Cruz to come out... I think it should ALWAYS be up to the individuals, when & IF they're ready!
I think the author did go a bit overboard with some of the issues, such as Liam acting like he'd be scarred for life if he met Cruz's parents because his own were ridiculously neglectful... it was OTT!
Danny conflating attraction with affection when the 2 are not in ANY way synonymous was ridiculous & the fact that it was presented in such an earnest way, had me rolling my eyes nearly out of my head!
Also, TBPH that she DID play a very (unwelcome IMO) part in Cruz's decision also left a bitter taste... I know that the author tried to pretend that wasn't the case, but it was definitely peer pressure!
Liam understood his reasoning, so no reason to rush things, when let's be honest... everything was so new & undefined!
I felt that it was realistic, but incredibly heartbreaking that there was no real resolution to Liam's relationship with his parents!
All in all, not a bad book, but definitely WAY more angsty than it needed to be IMO 🤷♀️
mostly ok

Overall it doesn't make me want to listen to the next book, as there is zero satisfaction finishing this one, just annoyance at not knowing.
Good, but feels incomplete
