It's every novelist's greatest fear: pouring their blood, sweat, and tears into writing hundreds of pages only to realize that their story has no sense of urgency, no internal logic, and so is a page-one rewrite. The prevailing wisdom in the writing community is that there are just two ways around this problem: pantsing (winging it) and plotting (focusing on the external plot).

Story
Why do so many people talk about writing a book but never get the job done? Why do so many start books they never finish? And why is the final product often so much less than what editors and agents want? Because writing is a process, and no steps can be omitted without impacting the quality of the work. As best-selling author William Bernhardt explains, editing begins before you start writing and doesn't end until the book is in print (if then). This book guides writers through that process, explaining what's worth doing and when to do it.

Great! ... Good, then bad, then very bad
There are a few great moments in this book that make it totally worth buying, especially in the beginning. The "zig" ideas of going at writing with passion and "forget the conventions" attitude is inspiring and well supported. Totally worth buying and keeping the book for that. The whole "how to get past writer's block" was tedious, repetitive, and became downright patronizing. I had to shut it off.

Different but useful advice!
First of all, he gives me permission to nap, so that's pretty cool, haha!
I like that the advice offered here is different from the standard writing advice. He suggests things like NOT outlining, NOT revising and rewriting over and over, and more things that we would normally do to make writing take longer.
The suggestion for Scrivener for IOS - and to write on my phone - is a game changer. I have so many spare little moments when I don't have a notebook or computer with me, but my phone is always there. Now I have a better sense of what to do when that happens and the ideas pop up. I really enjoyed this book and it was a quick listen as well - short and to the point.

if you are a pantser this book is for you!
I picked this book up on a whim, along with the audio portion of it.
This is a book about how to write faster, and in this one he advocates not having an outline. this is fine, because everyone is different. I personally think that as a writer you need to find your own way, writing with an outline or without.
The author has some useful tips for addressing certain things when you hit problems with writing. I think the favorite one that I found was having scrivener for iOS. I do not have a phone that would support that right now. But if you do I think you should try it.
I'm not a fan of some other techniques - he's very much about "the universe" and such - but that's his walk.
I think everyone can find something interesting.
for example - he talked about fear and some of the of the ones he faces (like rejection - I can relate) and how to cope. The best thing he says, you can't defeat fear, just cope with it (paraphrasing).
The narrator was friendly and had a great cadence. So I hope this author uses him again.
I do recommend this book.

Deeply thought through
You could tell that the author had thought through the material from many angles.
This is one of those books that you walk away from, and you feel that you did give you this to help you and not just to throw out a book and make money.
He even went so far as to make himself vulnerable to the reader, revealing some of the fears and struggles that he has had in order to show how to overcome some of them. I listened to this book surrounding the weeks of the death of my beloved father, and while I did not always agree with some of the author’s philosophies, I appreciated his heart and related to him as a person.
I’m planning to listen to this book every couple of years simply to review the resources. He gets at least 10 ideas of what to do when you have writers block, and several ideas for combating fear.

Excellent advice as always
Been following the author's work on Youtube for years. I found this book to be very relevant for me since I'm a writer myself. The sections on writing on mobile devices was helpful but I hate using Scrivener on my phone, and the app stopped syncing for me on the iPad so the computer is my preferred choice of writing tool, pen and paper is a close second.
Well done, and can't wait to listen to your next installment.

A very practical, well written and articulated resource book.
It falls fully into the category of ‘How to books’
I recommend this audio book for its brevity and in-depth into challenges that may face initiating writing.
The writer betters other writers in this category by recommending other good writers such as Scott Bell, etc

Excellent
I really like this author. He’s really new to me. I stumbled across his YouTube channel and when I saw that he wrote this book I not only loved his voice but his inspiration is really resonating with me as well. What I like the most is that he talks about values for writers that are similar to Dean Wesley Smith. So it’s a very creative and inspirational read but also instructional. I think this is a must read for any writer but also for those writers who like to write without an outline.
