What is karma? Most people understand karma as a balance sheet of good and bad deeds, virtues and sins - the mechanism that decrees that we cannot evade the consequences of our own actions. In reality, karma has nothing to do with reward and punishment. Karma simply means action - your action, your responsibility. It isn’t some external system of crime and punishment, but an internal cycle generated by you. Accumulation of karma is determined only by your intention and the way you respond to what is happening to you.

Really makes you think
Wow, I am impressed. I didn't expect this book to be so much of a self-help book. I chose it mainly because I love martial arts. I enjoy many aspects being discussed like your relationship to your teacher which Bruce Lee takes on a new perspective. Discussing competition, reacting to your sparring partner.
Shannon takes this to a different level and associates this technique to everyday life, how we react to people and situations. How we ideally can be empty, non-judgemental and try to live our best life.

Empty Your Cup
I'd never really heard of Bruce Lee before my husband made me watch one of the stories of his life. Since that moment, since hearing the water analogy, I've been looking for a way to tap into his way of thinking.
Shannon writes a very insightful book on ways in which to dissect the analogy (and others) from Bruce Lees writings and presents them in a way that is easy to apply to your own life and thought process.
As someone who is often consumed by too many sticky thoughts, the idea of emptying your cup really hits home and it reminds me to stay fluid in my thinking.
So thank you for taking the time to put this all down on paper. It's been so helpful. Such a revolutionary story and such an interesting and wise perspective.
